can't say for sure. it's technologically plausible, even statistically probable there are viable planets out there. But i doubt we'll live long enough to leave earth en masse.

if people would concentrate more on renewable energies its totally plausible, but money controls nearly everything, and i guess it all comes down to what country has more, and what countries will get their heads out of their butts and work together on an energy efficient life support and fuel system capable of well over light speed, or we wont get anywhere.

The technology exists. It's a matter of economics. At some point it will be viable.

We don't have the technology to get us there to colonize anywhere. We can't even get back to the moon. An hear on earth we can't recolonize areas that where destroyed by our own carelessness. Chernobyl for one.

Yeah, but I did say ever!
Ever is a very long time, even a hundred years ago we couldn't dream about going to the moon, so in 2000 years time who knows what might be possible!

We have the technology. That's already proven. We did the Moon in 69 and a few times after. We have gotten to a point where we can go and come from space fairly easily.

Well....we haven't been back to the moon since. All I see from NASA are new satellites going up. Where are the new space crafts?

That they are not built in no way means the technology does not exist! We landed on the Moon 6 separate times.

I just don't think it's going to happen is all I'm saying. It would take more than just the U.S. to fund it alone. You would need multiple nations in this huge undertaking. We're not in star trek.......where all nation where united in improving the lives of mankind.

As we speak several nations contribute to and man the ISS.

I don't trust any space technology man has created. It's bound to fail. I would rather for it fail right in on earth than light years out in space. Can't call a mechanic out there in space.........lol. So no colonization for me.

Early Aircraft failed regularly....now that is rare!

Not so....Mars Rovers have fixed themselves far from home by remote command on several occasions.

"Ever" is a long time. But our atmosphere protects us from harmful radiation. To live on the Moon or Mars we would need shelters or live below the surface. Environmental engineering of an atmosphere might be possible but it would take hundreds of years. It might be easier to alter ourselves than to alter the planet.

I can't really say yes, but it is highly probable that if we can either terraform a planet or find one with an appropriate environment we will colonize it.

I really, really, really, hope not. Our race would go to work immediately to destroy another world and do the same thing to the beings there that they did to the Indians and the Aborigines. Our race would start to destroy the animals and plant life on the other planet. Our race would not give a rats ass if they pumped dangerous crap into the new planets, air, ground, or water. We had this planet for ourselves and destroyed it we should not be allowed another. WE DO NOT DESERVE ANOTHER CHANCE.

Too many logistics to conquer, nothing useful to gain on another planet in this system.
