~ The Rebel ~ 2012/01/17 19:05:11
The co-founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales is giving students fair warning: they
should do their homework before Wednesday when the site will go dark, along with
other sites, in protest of anti-piracy legislation under consideration in
Congress.

SOPA and the other Protect IP bills are awful. It will crush the innovation of the Internet.

I say no to government censorship. you can sign up for VPN services in other countries. I sometimes use one in the Netherlands. it is encrypted. Google might not be in English all the time but at least they can't see what you are doing !

Why would they care? If Wikileaks is exposing them, they won't mind if they go dark.

oops..it's the Wikipedia site not the Wikileaks site. :/

Still say 'why would they care?'. It's the calls they will get ~ in an election year ~ that will open their ears. The calls telling them they will NOT get any money or support!

The government can call it "anti-piracy" but it is really just "Media Control" so the government can impose censorship of news and events. The free sharing of information on the Internet has more than once been a thorn in the side of government so keeping it under control is part of the plan to turn us into subjects instead of citizens.
