You shouldn't care what "fad" is in. You should wear what you feel comfortable wearing so long as it's appropriate for the occasion. Clearly, you shouldn't wear jeans and a flannel shirt to a wedding or wear a tuxedo to a barn dance.

I'm laughing. Jeans and a flannel shirt at weddings is pretty common where I live. If it's clean and unwrinkled it's all good.
