Why force children into a specific religion?

I was raised Catholic - I am not now a Catholic. I have 4 children (1 deceased)
my eldest daughter chose Catholicism, My youngest chose to be Agnostic and my son is Wiccan - Like me. I believe when they are mature enough to decide let them chose what they want. I had a Boarder from Israel, My Ex Husband was Buddhist. I have exposed them to many cultures and as Americans Born free - they should live free to express themselves and believe as they chose.

I agree. Children should not be forced into a specific religion. I think they should be exposed to various religions but one will not get far if a parent tries to insist upon one. I have only l daughter and I think she has turned out to be an atheist like her grandmother. But she is young so further changes may shape her.

Why? You've already given the answer. If you wait until kids are old enough to think, to really reason logically, you've lost them as far as indoctrination is concerned.

Some people are able to shed the abusive brainwashing of their religious upbringing but, as SH clearly demonstrates, most can't do that.

Kudos to you for giving your kids the chance to choose.

It's really simple. If your a parent who believes in the Bible you do as it says and teach your children daily about God. If you're a not you ask silly questions of others.

i was born catholic,but i find the great black arts interesting,why force children into a religion? let the kids choose....

I was pushed into the Catholic faith as well. When I had children, I let them go to any church they wanted or not at all. Neither are religious but are the most moral children I have ever seen. My youngest is also a member of Job's daughters.
