Why Don't The 'Voices In Your Head' Ever Tell You To Do Something Positive?

They probably do but we just don't call them the voices in your head when they tell you to do something positive.

I think that many people who claim that voices were responsible for their actions are trying to avoid appropriate punishment and develop grounds for copping a 'not guilty by reason of insanity" plea while those who do good usually just say "It felt like the right thing to do" Of course we all know which stories make better headlines and is the reason so many good things never are heard about b/c some corporate type doesn't consider them newsworthy.

They do, just THOSE voices aren't as loud

The "voices in my head" tell me to do positive things all the time. Like...well, I can't discuss that in public. Or, um...the statute of limitations hasn't run out on that one. Then there's...no, never mind, I promised I'd never talk about that.

But, hey. They're always in favor of bacon! :-)

They do. You just don't hear as much of the good stuff. If you are nice to your spouse they don't thank you but if you aren't nice they complain. If they do good at a restaurant you don't go online and leave a review but if they stink you do. The news focuses on most of the bad. Of course this isn't the case for everyone. I feel that most peope focus more on the negative. I know the voices in my head tell me to do good things. I feel bad if I don't do good things or compliment my employees, family, spouse and friends. I write good reviews online. Get gifts for people for no reason. Bake and share. Why not? If it makes people happy. I feel obligated to do nice things.

...we're genetically geared to attend to the negative; it's been a successful survival tactic. My mind does tell me to do positive actions, but those actions will seldom make the news. Do consider and read the reports of philanthropy when you see them.

Mine do. All the time I hear a little voice telling me to do the right thing, even when i don't want to.

I thought they were positive, sounded good at the time. Unfortunately the police and judges don't have the same "ear" as me.

Because when people get an idea to do something good, that little voice in their head that compelled them to do good, is just an idea they had to do good right before they did the good thing.So they take credit for it, instead of giving credit to the voice in their head! ;p lol

Excuses. Many people realize the thoughts and images in THEIR head are just part of yourself and your imagination, no matter how farfetched they seem.

In my opinion its not their fault, is your fault because you doubt your self too much to tell your self "Hell, I'm fabulous and i can do this!"
They will always be there,but the way i see it: you can either listen to them or ignore them! Its up to you!

Well I dont know about the voices in my head , but real human voices around me tell me that folks here in America may start selling off anything that they have in their house that they absolutly do not need after January 1 , 2013 , they feel jobs and financial things are going to become much worse than today.

In those cases they say "god told me to do it". It really is the same thing, just arbitrarily attributed to different things.

Uhm... If you're speaking about Schizophrenia, the voices in the "head" are delusions, usually birthed from some sort of traumatic past. Because of the delusion's origin, it's not going to be positive.

Because we ourselves don't wanna do good.. we ourselves control us and our actions, nobody else. If we are really determined to do good, those "voices" will also tell us to do good... but nobody thinks that positive these days.

So if the person were basically good, his or her voices would be basically good. Interesting.

i think it is caused by a chemical imbalance,,

i dont know the reaction that causes these thoughts to go away
but after time they do go away

It's a blame game. They can do something terrible, get caught, say 'the voices' made me do it, and lose some responsibility, at least that's what they think. If someone does something good, of course they want full dibs on that responsibility, hence no voices.

Well, I'm a Gemini, so my voice in my head is usually telling me good and negative things constantly.

As you can see, heck, sometimes it just climbs out and just runs about naked all over the place.

And that's when my voice that was in my head really gets interesting.
