Why don't people RSVP to parties anymore?

In today's busy world, parents have a hard time committing, so RSVPing has fallen by the wayside. But it can be really stressful for the host to not know how many people will be attending and how much food to buy, and stressful for the child who doesn't know if his or her friends will show up. As the Zokos blog put it, "RSVP does NOT mean 'Refreshments Served Very Promptly!'" :)

You need a few more sensible choices. I always RSVP when it's asked for, it's the polite and proper thing to do.

Not holding out for something better.IMO it's a lack of basic manners add formality almost annihilated in our current anything goes lackadaisical society.By translation RSVP =Respond if you please, giving one an out for not replying yet still rude.

Please, no one is sooooo important or busy to not respond to someones kindness in inviting you to be a part of something...You don't want to go, fine, but do the right thing and tell the person...don't be an ass...

But from the other person's standpoint, they do not see it that way, and are waiting to actually hear a yes or no, and the kind and proper thing to do is to send the reply card
saying you are not coming...please do not assume they understand your meaning...

I didn't realize it was such a big issue. The RSVP cards have fallen by the wayside for many things except those such as weddings, but I still respond via e-mail/text/call/whatever else.
