Why does the British school dress code make girls wear a men's necktie?

Because it encourages professionalism and high standards.

there should be another answer choice here "it's because". you see in britain theidea of uniform was so children of any social class looked the same so as to attempt to eradicate bullying by the better off on the less well off. now the "tie" is part of the school uniform and to attempt to stop girls deliberately opening their blouses too low in front of the boys (public schools then were mixed). today it has metamorphasied into a way of taking out the "sexist" problem.....but in practice this does not work. but on another point....in hot weather men in offices have to wear ties but women can wear blouses and open them up quite wide....but a man took his off one day over here and refused to put it back on until the women in the office did up thier blouses to the neck as it was sexually unfair that men should be hot around the neck and women could stay cool. he was sacked but he went to the tribunal.....and won!!! he didn't get his job back but recieved a substantial money settlement. now the law is changed here....men can remove ties and women open thier blouses with the approval of their immeadiate managers.

Only fair as lots of the lads now insist on wearing girls' panties. But that's progress for you! LOL!!

Oh, and contrary to popular belief, we have the HEALTHIEST teeth in the world, but we tend not to spend thousands on cosmetic dentistry.

Not all British people have bad teeth and crossdressing probably isn't "very big" there. And don't act like it's just British schools since I'm pretty sure some schools in America and other countries make girls wear ties as well.

A woman wearing a tie does not equate with cross dressing. Especially when that may be the only "masculine" article of clothing the women wear.
