Why do you hate (or like) spiders.

i love them! i have a pet one called Steve the bandit, big goddamn huntsman. Ahhhhh Australia, where the spiders are so big, they have health bars

I can't stand the look of them. They creep me out.

Why?

the eyes,fangs and the little hairs look scary on them.

My elderly mother had one that looked a lot like the picture on this post as a pet... It would crawl up and down her arm (or mine but I never got real comfortable). She fed it crickets and I wouldn't want to be a cricket although death did come fast... It would stop eating and get very inactive an Molt about every six months leaving a perfect replica exoskeleton that could actually be picked up and used to scare the bejesus out of people.... It stopped moving once seemingly to Molt but never did and about 6 weeks later we determined that Bella's time on this earth had passed. Bella lived almost the exact same number of years as one of my mother's cats - 19. My kids were always wanting to go see Gramma's spider and they seemed to never be scared of it but every other spider in the world still frightens them.

While teaching at a pre- school, some kids started screaming, yelling at me to come look. This was in Houston Texas. There was a huge spider the size of an inner tube. Owner of the school had to chop it several times with a shovel.

Little kids… so misguided about stuff like spiders

I like spiders because they eat nasty insects. I don't like spiders whose bite is worse than that of nasty insects.

I admire the work they do, but I don't like them to be near me. We have some really big spiders down here.

I took a Vacation to the USA, and when I was in Texas, there was alot of wolf spiders, garden spiders, and black widows

Us too..I have one daddy long leg that lives in my bedroom :) I think its cute

Me too---my family was raised that way and we all get crazy looks from people.... My daughter WHO IS very afraid of them though has recently broken through and instead of spraying them, crushing them, etc..., she has her boyfriend catch and release (always about 1/2 block from her house.)

No one need fear spiders. Just be aware of the ones in your area that are dangerous and avoid them. Do not kill them, because they do an important part in the ecosystem - one that greatly benefits us humans as well. They can also be quite beautiful:

I like spiders because they are like me, misunderstood a lot of the time but appreciated for my best qualities and not as easy to make friends.

Looks like they have good family values and not too good in the area of contraception so I'm thinking I may have to reevaluate my appreciation of what is an obviously Republican leaning among the arachnids.
