Why do they let scams advertise on television?

Red 2012/09/17 11:34:26
I have seen a lot of advertisement of products on television but my question is why do they let them advertise when all along it's a scam. Isn't there any background check on advertisements or standard security procedures for consumers?

Take this for an example:
Getcharger com

As I have seen the reviews, a lot haven't receive their product even after 6 months of waiting. Some received theirs but the advertisement's claim that it could charge an Ipad when in reality, it couldn't even fully charge a phone according to one consumer.

And also, advertisements that says "If you're not satisfied, mail the product back and get your money back guaranteed." I knew people who returned the product and haven't received the money back at all..
What do you think should be done with issues like this?

Everything that is wrong with this country is BECAUSE OF TOO MANY LAWS you bunch of liberal pansies. You want a law for everything. Suck it up, be a man and take responsibility for your own actions. If you got duped, shame on you. Laws already exist to tackle this sort of problem... it doesn't take new ones, just enforcement of current ones.

Here's what's wrong. Its ok to advertise on TV but with truthful claims. This ad is written in a way that people think that this particular solar charger will charge up immediately in the sun and then fully charge up their device (phone, tablet, etc). That is not the case.

In reality, it has a battery (400mah?) with very little capacity that will only charge up a small % (about 10-15%) of the smart phone and very small (2% or so) of a tablet.

Furthermore, if trying to recharge as solar, it will need to be in direct sunlight for about 30 hrs or more to recharge which is really not feasible.

The problem is the ad and company behind the ad are not truthful in explaining the features correctly.

Recommedation: Find a product and company that has true claims

Well, Laws are flawed, that's why there are many laws because law is not perfect..I agree on you that enforcement of current ones would be better..

I think they should have to be bonded or meet certain requirement to be certain the consumers are rip off. there isn't any protection for the consumers.it should be against the law to do what alot company to and there is no guaranteeds for us.

Yeah.. there should be a law about this.. A seller should have a confirmed physical address instead of just a phone number and an advertisement.. There is no protection for consumers. And most products shown on advertisements are common bogus. This is public swindling that the government doesn't seem to act on it..

Freedom of speech. It would take a constitutional amendment designed by the con men we elect to Congress to change this. Don't hold your breath waiting. Our democracy is really a plutocracy at present.

That sucks.. They make laws almost everywhere that doesn't even make sense and they don't have an amendment for something serious such as this.

It's been a long standing approach of our system of "free enterprise". Caveat Emptor. It sadly has made many very dishonest men very wealthy.

Dishonesty succeeds, depending on what one wants: “Nixon was the most dishonest individual I have ever met in my life. He lied to his wife, his family, his friends, his colleagues in the Congress, lifetime members of his own political party, the American people and the world. ... I wouldn't trust Nixon from here to that phone." Barry Goldwater I prefer bliss in my existence and that requires that I operate with integrity...as did Barry. The current corrupt plutocracy will change if and only if we insist that it does and vote for it. We deserve what we elect.
