Why do the "adults" on this site treat the ones that are younger than them like they're mentally handicapped?

I'm 15, but I completely disagree with you. Someone who is 35 obviously has a little more life experience than someone who is 15... So there is always going to be that barrier between all of our opinions being equal. While my opinion should be taken seriously on all levels, because what I have to say is worth listening to, I'm not going to lie and say I understand more than someone who has lived double my life span about the world. It's just not logical.

Are you asking this question because you genuinely want to know how we feel, or because you just want to make a point across about your own opinion?

I'm speaking of intelligence not wisdom. And I want to know why these people feel as if they are superior. I already know I'm plenty more intelligent than some older people that I know personally, maybe that's because they're basically borderline morons. Age doesn't equal validation, it's just stupid to think that.

You're right, age doesn't equal validation. One's opinions should be valid and intelligent enough to stand on their own, so it being derated because of your age and intelligence wouldn't be a problem.

Care to explain how it wouldn't be a problem? Or I cam just ignore everything you just said because you're 15, what the hell do you know?

I've never run into this situation before. My opinions have always been valid enough that no one questioned my knowledge to begin with, let alone my age. I suppose I can't relate to your frustration. Feel free to ignore everything I've said to you, but you asked the question, and I answered.

Well, I tend to disagree with most people on this site, it's probably just a cheap comeback. As long as I've been on here it was like "Ooh you agree with me, you're so smart for your age." or "You disagree, you're a moron." it's annoying and hypocritical. And I took your answer seriously, I respect all opinions. I just used that as an example as to what I go through.

Placing intelligence above wisdom with respect to valid opinions only reveals the naivety of youth. Intelligence is a capacity to process information. Wisdom is the stuff that leads to correct conclusions.

But age says nothing. You have no clues about my experience or wisdom. For example, could you speak about anorexia from experience, or living with drug addicts, or being raped. No you can't, can you? Just because someone is younger doesn't mean they don't have wisdom.

I do feel sad for the terrible things you have endured. It is also true that you have gained insight from those experiences. Those cannot be diminished.

Someday you will understand. The good thing is that every day you gain more wisdom from life experiences and the ways you have handled them.

Really? Because I've been through way more and "God" never helped me. I've gained more comfort in my Satanism than I have when I practiced Jadaism until I was 14. Please show me how that makes sense?

I can tell you that contrived bologna calling itself Satanism has no hope or lasting value. I also know that God changes things when I pray.

You cannot always know God's purposes. When you are experiencing evil, you do learn and know the reality of evil. I do not know your situation, but I suspect you will come to Christ someday from your suffering and pain. I think you know that God is there, but you want answers.

I do. I've seen God move this very week on some very difficult problems at work that I prayed about. I was blown away that He orchestrated different Christians in my company (each unaware of the problem) separately to solve different parts of a huge personnel problem.

I understand what your saying and it makes great sense. I get the same type of treatment because I am a senior, so now all of sudden folks around the age of 40 think I am either senile or stupid. As a older person it takes a little longer to react and respond intelligently. I have often said to my impatient daughter of 40 that I have a file cabinet of things in my brain that I have learned over the years, I cannot get to it quickly anymore that does not mean I am stupid just gathering the data so I can respond. You have a lot of information but being young it pours out quick and sometimes not in the way you want it to. You see we are a lot alike both wanting to say something but sometimes it is difficult to put it out their right.
Neither one of us should be disrespected for not getting it out there precise as some think it ought to be.

I agree with that. I do take older people seriously, I used to take my grandfathers advice all the time before he passed away and he was 75 years old. I respect all opinion, I just want mine to be respected as well.

A lot of them are old time conservatives that believe they know better than a lot of us and while it is true that with age comes wisdom but not knowledge which can make a difference in context of an informed opinion. I also think it has to do with young=liberal with very few exceptions. We wouldn't be on this site if we weren't intelligent enough to defend our opinions and sometimes intelligence is more important than wisdom.

I think you underestimate many here. There are a lot of jerks but many great "adults" and many great younger people here too.

I prefer to think of it like the mentally handicapped people on this site treat everyone else like they're mentally handicapped too. I don't blame them, they are what they are.

I agree with you. It's just a trait that exists from generation to generation. The older generation will always criticize the younger generation. I know it's not right to do so but Voltaire said, "Life is not fair."

To be fair, a lot of people on here are stupid as hell regardless of their age. The kids just don't hide it as well.
