What about the private, foreign corporation called United States Government acting as police of everything? Seems like many are acting as though their ideals of good morals and way of life should be public policy to everyone else. That's their "narrowmindedness". The King James version of the bible is foundational law here and according to public law 97-280, it is suggested that YOU learn it and apply it accordingly.
Rather some see OPPORTUNITY in calling themselves morality police and using hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars GRANTED through the federal government to exact their will on the American people. Further eroding their freedoms that were fought for and paid for in BLOOD! So you could say they are Opportunists.
Well as a christian myself (not very devout) I can tell you its because our holy book tells us to be. Do I really do that? no I call people out on stupidity but thats about it and it has to do with my own personal veiws not my religious ones.Anyway that answers your question the christian holy book tells christians to tell others the right way to live atleast according to the bible. (Religious Arrogance might play a bit of a role too)
I've seen this happen, and I think it's because of the Christian position that they should share the Gospels with the world. If they should share the Gospels, then it extends to the rest of the Bible, and next thing we know, we have Christians preaching the Bible to everyone.
Some Christians think that their behavior is sanctioned by God and that it's their place to force their particular interpretation of the Bible on everyone else. Thank whatever the heck deity exists that not all Christians don't do this, just the crazies.
Christians do not see themselves as the morality police
Most of America is Christian, and there's a lot of immorality out there -- so, if we Christians are supposed to be the "morality police," we're not doing our jobs very well.
Some Christians do, just as some athiest secularist think they know what is best. I look at personality as the ultimate lense for this behavior. Some people tend to live and let live and others do not. Think about your own beliefs and how they may have changed. If you felt A. and acted as such, I doubt you would do any different when you change to believing in B. Many people who think they know how to eat, live, marry, die, vote, etc.. feel as if they won't ever see the world as they want it unless they help "convert" or show people the error of their ways. The more people that think like they do,the more "real" their version of reality is. It is futile and it is collectivist and I hate it whether it is some utopian political scheme or some religious paradise. It stinks!
who do you suggest we leave morality up to? pagans atheists heathens and morons?? but hey, if you want to spend eternity in outer darkness, have at it. LMBO!!!!
The only one who can and has defined morality is God's law. Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, "YOU SHALL NOT COVET."
ha! riiight....have you eer thought that your god is NOT perfect? I mean, according to christians, he makes people go to a HORRIBLE place. I think that Athiests and Pagans, and Wiccans, ect. have a pretty good idea that there is something WRONG there!!
Nope, He is perfect. He's merciful and He's Just. It's not His fault where people choose to end up. He gave perfect instruction and made a Perfect way to avoid a HORRIBLE place. He would not be perfect and loving if He did not give everyone free will to choose who they would serve.
There is no other god but God. Isaiah 45:5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; 7 I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.' 8 "Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, And let righteousness spring up together. I, the Lord, have created it.
psalm135:14 For the Lord will judge His people, And He will have compassion on His servants. 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, The work of men's hands. 16 They have mouths, but they do not speak; Eyes they have, but they do not see; 17 They have ears, but they do not hear; Nor is there any breath in their mouths. 18 Those who make them are like them; So is everyone who trusts in them. 19 Bless the Lord, O house of Israel! Bless the Lord, O house of Aaron! 20 Bless the Lord, O house of Levi! You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord! 21 Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, Who dwells in Jerusalem! Praise the Lord!
and just how did you prove yours?..... and there is no need for me to waste my energy on telling you that there is mmore than one god when you don't listen to me.
We're not required to give proof to skeptics and scoffers. I don't have to give anymore proof that Jesus already gave: Jesus said, "if you've seen me you've seen the Father, if you don't believe me believe the works that i do." God doesn't operate according to man's demands for proof. Jesus also said to Thomas, "you believe because you see, blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe." First believe then you will get your proof.
That's a lame argument ... just as is the entire concept. Man wrote the fairy tales contained in the bible (some, apparently, do actually contain some historical facts) and, just as any playwright can do, so the "authors" of those tales attributed all those "sayings" to their characters, god and Jesus. As for believing .... sorry, I don't believe in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, nor any other mythical entity, past or present.
If you or I are not killing then we have followed the commandment. All we can do is tell others not to kill. we cannot necessarily make anyone else not kill.

well i asked so i'm waiting for you to explain yourself.

One of them that leaps to mind is "thou shalt not kill." A country that murders over 1 million unborn babies per year should take heed of those words.
