Why do so many people lie on their sodahead profile?

FUS RO DAH! 2011/08/16 17:33:47
Look around on some people's profile on sodahead you can tell their lying. Some say they have a income of $100K but still in high school.

I think people do that as a general yeah-whatever-its-nobody's-bu... or just to be funny. I always see people who put there age as something like 105---its just a silly way of saying none of your business:)

Dunno, I don't look at anyone's profile. Maybe they don't have a job because you know, they're young and in high school, so they just picked an option so all the fields were filled in.

    Also *they're*

None of my profile is a lie. I don't put income on there because my family's income is private. I think many high school students who put it on there are probably putting their parents income.. but some could just be lying. I think age is the biggest lie.

I've seen people claim to be in their 60s act like 12 year olds..

I dont know considering you can make that private where no one can see it not to mention since it asks for income you can take that from varying sources for instance use your personal income instead of family income. I didnt like SH knowing my total family income so I only used my own personal income and I also made it private because i dont think its anyone's business.

The internet has opened up an opportunity for some folks to “exaggerate” who or what they are, without the fear of being tagged a fraud as they would have been labeled in the days before this media. Personally, I'm comfortable in my own skin, and everything that is in my profile is accurate. I even try to back up my profile with photos.

The only time that these fakers bother me, is when in a discussion, they make outlandish claims about their military service, when I know just by the tone of their messaging, they never served a day in their lives. This is “stolen valor” and is a direct insult to those who actually served and laid down their lives for this country.

Other than that, if a person is so ashamed of how their lives turned out, or are so insecure with their lives that they have to pretend to be someone that they are not, that's no skin off my nose because they are the people who have to live with it.

I do though believe that many of these fakers are either pre-teen or young teens who just like to play games just to get the adults on here riled up.

Lol, "embellishing seems to come so naturally to humans. Honesty is an onging, momentary choice. And the internet makes it so easy. But also the site is not so rigid that it demands proof of everything like some other sites. And I think that's a positive for this site.

I've noticed that some people have fake profile infos. It's so obvious sometimes that I don't think they expect us to believe them. How much personal info we want on our profile, is our own choice. Maybe it's better to skip some info, than to lie...?

What's on my profile is true, except that my real name isn't Stella, and I don't look like Michael Jackson!!! LOL!!! ;)

info lie profile real real stella michael jackson lol who are we

It made me check a box, and I asked to hide my income. So, it didn't matter to me what I checked. I checked (wishful thinking) what I'd like to be making, but for some reason, it still shows up when it isn't supposed to show.

Because it is a very stupid idea to put actual facts about some things
on Soda Head. I only know one Soda Head personally & he knows
the truth about me & that is all that matters. Most everything on my
profile is real, even pictures of me because I am involved with
online meet up groups in my area. Anything I don't want anyone
to know, I just don't put anything.

I am wondering if people lie because maybe they are telling the truth about themselves? I don't know why people would lie on their profiles. Looks to me like if there is something they don't want people to know about, they would just not answer. But who knows, I am just guessing.

Perhaps the income bit is how much their parents make, but I think many people post false info because of security reasons. At first I was reluctant about posting any pictures of myself on here or even using my real first name.
