Why do so many in the homosexual community use decent english words, then get offended by them?

Gay, queer, faggot, fag.

Why are these suddenly offensive?

lol that sounds a great idea. Could end up being a bit unfair if someone is a black, one legged, fat gay guy.

They don't use them. Hetrosexuals do. They use them as insults. The same way the British during the Revolution called us "Yankees" or "Yanks".

When I first started using chatrooms and similar places, took me ages and for someone to tell me why "going out for a fag" is offensive to some idiots

Took me a while to understand "hard cheese" too. In the US there are so many regional varieties of English that one used to travel at their own peril. Such as "Let's go get some cock!" Made me wanna stay at the motel....

Because it's been made offensive throught it's use in some places. For example in America. People call homo's "fags" with malice here. It's been turned into a insult in this culture. So when you innocently use the word "Fag"(correctly I might add) these people who have only heard it as a insult and don't know any better get upset. It's that whole difference between the Queen's English and American English.

It's such a trivial thing, in the great scheme of the world, but it irritates me. Do some of these americans think that Chas & Dave are colossal homophobes. The line in their song Mad, Mad, Mad. "I was only looking for some matches to light me fag up.". In England we may chuckle. In American English, it would be taken as a burning sacrifice.

Because the protected become the Bullies and gain extreme confidence when they can always play the Fag Card, or Race Card when they are confronted.

I really believe it's a tactic. Control the language to control the discussion and ultimately the outcome. It keeps their opposition walking on egg shells.
