Why do people send others friend requests if they have absolutely nothing in common with them?

And not just the leaderboard requests, I mean I accept all request but half the requests leave me wondering why would they.

+3I sometimes get a request from someone who makes me wonder why they would request my friendship, but usually a request follows interacting with someone on a post. Sometimes it is fun to have friends who think differently on some issues. Also, it gives more variety to the shared questions you get.reply - Dagon 2012/06/16 03:21:28

+6I cannot speak for everyone but I find it boring to always get the same questions, so I pick a variety of people.reply - L1Z2 2012/06/16 03:13:34
+6Because the more people that are friends, the more exposure you get. It's like rave begging or something like that.reply - Kat 2012/06/16 03:13:33
+4No idea, I've had a couple myself that were just weird, absolute opposites on every post. One has tried twice, if he does it again I might need to deny instead of ignore. Totally weird.reply - nattieaug 2012/06/16 03:11:13
