Why do people mock virgins?

they seem to make fun of virgin men and women as well. What if it's BY CHOICE? If the person like say Tim Tebow stands up with what the believe in and has the will power not to give in.

(Note: I am not saying that others don't have will power, I assume most people don't see the point of waiting b/c they have different priorities than others)

I have been laughed at but I don't care much b/c I don't fall for peer pressure or anything.

    I am still a virgin and I could care less of another person's opinion on the matter. Most of the criticism has to do with people not feeling like they are alone in making their mistakes, they want you to experience the same mistakes they did.

    I am not condemning others, that isn't my business what they do. lol like non virgins are deemed worthless, really? What the heck kind of religions did you hear about? It isn't just for my faith anyway. I just want to be close to and married to the dude, if I am seen as a freak for wanting love/marriage and not a booty call or anything else, then so be it. Thank you for commenting.

    And it's not so much "hear about" as "hear straight from the horse's mouth" when it's not "heard from the pulpit and pews because I lived amongst them and visited their churches."

    And if that's really the sum of your reasoning, then you shouldn't object to sex within the confines of a committed, non-married relationship, so whatever.

    I am none of those things you mentioned, just to point out. In reality, no one should be judged and everyone, even Christians (obviously haha) is very judgmental unfortunately. We should live and let live, but this is no utopian society. Oh, when I say "hear about", I mean "aware of the existence of said religion", something along those terms.

    Few reasons, people are idiots. They're also jealous because most people threw it away and deeply regret losing it to the person they did. They probably wish they had the restraint to wait.

    I really don't know, I don't get why people, particularly girls, who are more experienced are also mocked. I just don't see the point in judging people by their number of bed partners. I've met some very nice "sluts" and some very mean virgins, and vice-versa.

    I am a virgin and I always feel the need to lose it from peer pressure from friends and the media.
    P.S. A bunch of girls told me that at 17, it is better to lose your virginity to the right person as opposed to a random person on the streets.
    Yes, I understand that message but I still feel the pressure. People are shocked that I am still a virgin!

    Actually since you are only 19, I don't think you are all that much different from the norm. my daughter lost her virginity at 18. Now if you are still a virgin at 30...

    I neither respect or condemn prostitutes or sexually generous women.

    exactly, they remember how they lost their's and regrete every minute of it and would love to be in your shoes and have the chance to loose it to some one they love instead of a one night stand.

    They have regret or feel like shaming someone for their personal choice.

    Did you know that there are some people who don't even like sex or want to lose their virginity? Yes, they exist. I say, let's let everyone make their own personal choices and not fault them for it.

    It's none of anyone's business, but your own honestly- unless you have a partner and are ready to share.

    I make fun of people with aids and warts all over their genitals pushing a baby carriage and spending money on the kid that they could be spending on a vacation.

    How is not sleeping with a stranger and having another person seeing you naked.(embarassing) a bad thing?

    NO ONE knows what I look like naked except me, my doctor, my 4th grade teacher, and my mail lady who I didn't expect to leave a package for me in my backyard one summer afternoon...

    May be true in general but a person who is knowledgeable about birth control and STDs will have fewer problems than someone who is ignorant about such issues and was taught just say no. Just does not work.

    It is sad that relatively few exist. That is why I support planned parenthood as they work to increase knowledge in the world. But far right wackos get all twisted out of shape at the mention of planned parenthood. Heaven forbid that women control their own body.

    They should be taught to control certain urges until mature enough to handle the responsibilities and consequences, b/c if planned parenthood has to teach them anything, it's a little late..

    Peer Pressure can be quite persuasive, but not all give into it. It's a choice, but for every choice that is made SOMEONE JUST HAS TO CRITICIZE IT. I'm a vegetarian, people have to make fun of me because of my choice to not eat meat. There will always be people who have to pick on other people to feel cool.
