Why do people feel so self-righteous when they say that they are "tolerant" of other races?

"I TOLERATE you" ...

Oh, well gee thanks a lot! ...

Think about it, you TOLERATE somebody? ...

We need to LOVE each other, not tolerate each other. Tolerance is the same as *indifference*.
You!

Tolerating is a 'symbol' that nobody is perfect. That's why we have to be kind and give (in) a little bit of ourselves.

I agree people should not be worrying themselves about tolerating each other. They should be worried about loving one another or rather a persons or communities lack of love

We both did I'm sure and can't understand the way you think. Tolerating a 'race' would mean being kind to someone of a different color than you. Most likely, darker skinned. Kindness is a form of love. To tolerate a skin color person different from you is not the same thing as: tolerating a person is. Even with flowers or furniture, how you feel about their color is going to make you feel different 'than' what 'glory' to the 'atmosphere' it otherwise adds by its stance or position.

    tolerate[ tol-uh-reyt ]
verb (used with object) tol·er·at·ed, tol·er·at·ing.
    1. to allow the existence, presence, practice, or act of without prohibition or hindrance; permit.
    2. to endure without repugnance; put up with: I can tolerate laziness, but not incompetence.
    3. to endure or resist the action of (a drug, poison, etc.).
Kindness doesn't coexist with toleration, nor love.

Explain how? The definition doesn't coexist with kindness nor love. Love doesn't coexist with kindness. Neither coexist with tolerance.

If I rub my dad's hair gently, I'm being sweet. When he holds my hand up to his shaved beard and rubs it, he loves me back, then when we say "Hello", the kindness and love spreads. If I buy my friend a gift for Christmas or her birthday, I'm being kind by doing her a favor. I tolerate the way my mom decorates her house, even if I don't like it, because it's her house. She pays for it and is older than me, esssentially. That's done out of kindness and is kindness in return. She tolerates me when my hair isn't brushed. Together, we still go places and love each other out of love, and her -- spending money on gas and willing to take me to the doctors or pet store is kindness from her heart. Because of the times 'we' had around the Civil War, and even the christian holy bible, 'tolerance' can be used that way. Besides, you don't choose to be racial or gay. You're born that way, and like The Autism Spectrum, it's 'our' job to learn to tolerate (put up) with things we, otherwise might get a 'rapid heartbeat' about or get aggressive, as being violent or aggressive is against the law and what the bible teaches.

But I'm talking definition wise, that's irrelevant.

Definition means 'true meaning.' Such examples of real life 'show' the true meaning and how to 'look at life.' People made up words and their meanings by such life events in the past and new words are coming out every so often. And, you were talking about the words 'self righteous' and 'tolerance' and 'race' or the like, and, sure enough: -- "Shouldn't we feel right/good about ourselves when we decide to do something 'smart??'"

Again, let's stick with definitions, not with something you want the definition to be.
