Why do people do such things?

Tonight while getting groceries at Kroger I passed a shopping cart with some items and a ladies wallet in the child seat with money sticking out of it. I knew that the cart belonged to two women that were in an aisle so I turned and told them it was a bad idea leaving a wallet unattended. Do you ever leave a wallet or purse unattended in a shopping cart?

i narly lost my purse at the shoping centre once but i know from that lesson not to leave it unless it is in my bag or in my hands.
