My aunt does this to her four kids unintentionally and it's difficult for some parents not to compare. The thing is each child has faults and strengths and it's always best to try and enhance those strengths. Making any child feel lesser than the other will most likely backfire.
I was the only child so I sort of dodged the comparison to a more successful sibling bullet. But I have more successful cousins that I was judged on.
Great quote from one of my favorite Herb Albert songs
Quiere me Tal Como soy
Hmph. :P Also the middle child too but more so known as the rude, lazy and irresponsible one - yet I'm the one who's paying most of the bills unlike my older sis with her 3 kids.

Love me for what I am!!!
Love you just for you?
Personally, I don't.
One of the benefits to having only one kid is that you have no one else to compare them to, even unintentionally.
I'm also the "good" one, and the 'responsible' one, so my sibs get held in comparison to me.

Will do! : )
