Many reasons apply. You cannot explain this age olkd question with a generalization .

Most experts think it is in our basic DNA makeup....Early man went out to populate the planet...They porked any woman they came across as they travelled around hunting and gathering .

Sadly , some men never really evolved .

Men are 'wired' to spread their seed. That's the main reason why. There are other subordinate ones, but this one will do. :-)

Incidentally, women are wired similarly--to enhance their brood with the strongest males possible.

Because they do not have integrity. A real man ends a relationship before going onto the next. If your wife or girlfriend is not the person for you, either fix the relationship or end it. Some men lack character and can't deal with themselves on their own, so they jump into the sack to avoid confrontation or loneliness.

I'm not sure but...I absolutely hate when people say "well if she was doing her job at home then he wouldn't be cheating. I call BULLSH*T! A man cheats because he wants to cheat, no one controls his actions but him. If the sex at home becomes monotonous, men seem to be afraid to discuss it with their mate.
