Why do I keep being called a kid?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a kid the ages 12 and under and you qualify as a teen from the ages of 13-19 but you're counted as an adult from 18+? Technically I qualify as a teen not a kid. But even if I was counted as a "kid", it makes me feel uncomfortable and demeaned to be called one when I'm talking to a person. T_T and it's not like I act "immature", either, or child-like. And this is just a question, so don't come here saying I should act "mature" and stop my "complaining". >.>

When I taught Junior High I referred to them as my kids...still do and some are 36

I'm 24 and still get called a kid or sometimes boy. Don't let it bother you. I don't think they mean it to be insulting.

Some people are full of crap and think themselves better than others.And when you have them beat at an argument, they resort to calling you a stupid kid who doesn't know what he's/she's talking about.I don't mind being called kid depending on how they say it.

I still get called a "kid" or a "young'in" on occasion. Even though it is a complete mis-use of terminology, some people just use it for a term to classify anyone "younger" than themselves.

I'm 17 and I still refer to myself and a lot of my friends as "kids". Hell, I call my friends in their 20's "child". It's just the way people speak and I don't think it's meant to offend.

yeah it gets annoyin when people call me kid. One of my friends on SH calls me kid and i call him a girl so i think its even. Lol.

I'm 16, that's two years from being a legal adult, so not quite a young "kid". I'm talking about people in real life, and people on here can simply reply to me without addressing me by any names.

You my dear are in that transition from being a kid and wanting to be an adult, your mind is telling you want to be an adult but your actions are that of a kid sometimes. You simply just need to let people know what your name is and that you wish to be called that it's that easy, that is just one thing that belongs to that no one can take from you so you have all the control over that.

I know adults who play video games. o_o and I always thought emo was always stupid. And I can't help have a soft/high-ish voice, I have weak lungs. >.>
