They all don't act like that. My uncle is gay and he acts more masculine than my father who is straight. XD And I've met very feminine lesbians. ^_^ That's just a stereotype that lesbian women act masculine and gay men act feminine. It doesn't apply to all.
I don't know the answer to that, but you hit the nail on the head. I've noticed that as well. I'm not saying they are all like that, but the ones I'm aware of, especially the women, all act real tough, ready to fight, lol
When I first started on SH, there was some girl that asked this question and everyone was giving her hell & all I said was something like she's a young girl that asked a simple question, why gang up on her. Well that diverted their attention, to me lol
Then Masculine and feminine must not exist :P They are just meaningless forms of letters :P I mean, the dictionary probably doesn't even have them listed as real words! :P
Dictionary.com pertaining to or characteristic of a man or men: masculine attire. pertaining to a woman or girl: feminine beauty; feminine dress.
Therefore, some gay women are taking on characteristics of men, even if those characteristics are prone to change over time. some gay Men are taking on the characteristics of women, even if those characteristics change over time.
Therefore why is this so? Seems like one is avoiding the question because one has no clue :P
Well, before stonewall, it was taboo for a gay couple to be seen on a date together. They would be subject to heckling, attacks, even intervention from the police.
To avoid this, one would dress as the opposite sex. The practice caught on even after it was rendered obsolete as a fashion statement.
BTW, It is YOU who doesn't have a clue about gay history and culture. :3
I already admitted to not knowing why they do it. Doesn't explain why gay guys will take on the mannerisms of women and change the pitch of their voices in today's society. :P
Look, it's obvious that you want to hear something along the lines of "Well, gays are just backwards and perverted, that's why." But that's not what you're going to hear from me.
There used to be a time when being as inconspicuous as possible was a MUST for gay people. There was no coming out. There was no free expression. You either stayed on the down low, or you faced the ruination of your life and livelihood. A lot of gay men and women started cross dressing as an act of civil disobedience. Again, it caught on as a fashion statement.
I really don't. Whether you classify it as effeminate or feminine, it's the same to me: taking more interest in the opposite sex than your own in characteristics. I don't know what camp is, but apparently I should?
Perhaps, gay people can inform instead of attack and they would be further alone with their cause, no? Or perhaps, hatred is the only method gay people know?
I think that they pretend to be the opposite sex because it makes them feel more content in the relationship knowing that one may be more masculine than the other.
I don't know, but it's a little annoying to me. If one is to be gay, shouldn't they take pride in their gender and not try to mimic the ones that they aren't attracted to?
Take care,
Take care,
There are PLENTY of "normal" gay guys and "normal" gay women. You just don't notice them because they sort of blend into the background.
Also, define masculine, and, define feminine.
Such subjective terms.
Take care,
Masculine and feminine change with every generation.
