    For the same reason dudes thought polyester jumpsuits and bellbottoms were cool in the 70's, parachute pants in the 80's, mullets in the 90's. Fashion is a weird creature.

    thank you !! i have thought this since i first saw this "style", i cant understand why someone would think walking around looking like you just dumped a duece in your pants would be cool. theres strange fashions with every generation but this ones gotta be the stupidest looking thing iv'e ever seen "buy a dam belt already" ahhahaha:)

    p.s what happens if you have to run for some reason you ever seen one of those guys running it's hilarious oh well natural selection i guess lol

    They don't. It's stupid and completely impractical to wear as a "fashion wardrobe".
    It's also a major downside - if someone that was sagging their pants and decided to look at their iPods, someone could easily run by, pants them, and run away with their iPod. they have absolutely NO benefits.

    I suppose they think it looks cool. The baggy pants came from where homies ( gang members) get their belts taken away when they go to prison and hence the baggy pants pays tribute to them. Whether that's true or not today, I don't know,

    Only a certain type of 'dude' thinks that. Hopefully, they will start thinking for themselves soon. I hate that style, both for how it started and because they look like they have a load of crap in their pants.

    For the same reason long hair on men was cool in the 60's and 70's. For the same reason parachute pants and permed hair were cool in the 80's. For the same reason the Fonzie look was cool in the 50's and early 60's. This sagging pants look has been around since the 90's and eventually it too will become obsolete.

    i never figure that one out... heard lots of things like it comes from prisons for a myriad of different reasons, but i have no idea.
    Personally i prefer to just wear clothes that fit.
