I don't want "good" religious people to be mad at my response, but alot of them think that they are the "only" "Right" religion, and therefore everyone has to go by what they say..as you would say..PFFFFFTto them! Those "certain religion' ones are the bad ones, not us "normal " ones!
Benjamin Franklin had some excellent observations on the religious institutions of his day.
"Most sects in religion think themselves in possession of all truth, and that whenever others differ from them, it is so far error. Steele, a Protestant, in a dedication, tells the Pope, that 'the only difference in our two churches, in their opinions of the certainty of their doctrines, is, the Romish Church is infallible, and the Church of England never in the wrong."
"When a religion is good, I conceive that it will support, itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it, so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one, (Works, Vol. viii., p. 506).'"
It doesn't seem much has changed in the 200+ years since Franklin wandered this earth.
I don't think they think they own it but I do think that they think they are pillars of it in regards to morality. I don't have a problem with that. There needs to bee a designated driver at every party you know?
But, your not even a good satanist! Besides, Jews only believe in the Torah, not the whole bible. Some of the most demonic spirits I have encountered were Jews anyways.
How am I not a good satanist? what do you know about satanism? And I said I read the bible AND was raised Jewish. Two separate things I'm talking about. Smh how the hell are we friends on here? -.-
Ok, How do the Keys of Solomon, namely the Book of Goetia affect modern Christians. Why do you think the Catholic Church and early Church in general his the fact that King Solomon dabbled in ceremonial magic, when he married a pagan women? Did you know that Aleister Crowley translated the Book of Goetia for the Rosicrucian Order of the Knights Templar? Anton Lavey was the water-boy for real satanism. Today it is known as Luciferism and is a recognized religion by the United Nations. If you don't know this stuff that is why you are a bad satanist!!!LOL..J/K
No one said you were. So don't get your panties in a bunch. I was merely informing you of what most upper crust satanist have chosen to call it today to legitimize it and get UN recognition.
Because they have become used to the idea over a very longtime. It makes them feel important and the believe they are the only ones who have the ability and right to make decision for everyone based on their religious faith.
Christian in general have been the majority in society and have had the major voice in government for centuries. As a result they have been able to demand and get what they have wanted for a very long time. They have become very comfortable with that system and have enjoyed those privileges. They now feel they have a 'right' to that same standard at all times.
They do not care that it has been unfair to other groups. In fact they do not in some cases even understand that it has been unfair at all. They simply believe that their religion is the only one that is important and the only one that should be accepted as it has always been that way.
THANK YOU! I've recently become a Christian and I'm noticing that they believe that they own this Earth. I love being a Christian, but sometimes they get on my nerves with my favorite line "Because the Bible said so." If I remember correctly, the Bible didn't say anything about doing everything the bible says.
You are right. Most things that were done in the bible are not done today.
The ancient people were very superstitious and had very little knowledge of some things and as a result did not understand how some things actually worked in nature. Things like eclipses were thought to bring about the end of the earth. Many irrational concepts were made as a result of the lack of knowledge. The same thing applies to how to treat people and morality. It all goes back to those ancient belief systems.
