Why aren't their sanctions against countries that segregate women like there was with segregation of blacks in South Africa?

Religion is a perfect way to segregate women and control them, and it's not unique to Islam. Just a few years ago, a Christian preist said that witches gain power by periodically refraining from sex.

sanctions are stupid anyway, it only infuriates countries with us by hurting them economically, burns bridges of communication, drives them into the arms of our enemies, fails to keep our enemies close, and even drives them to start wars (see Pearl Harbor). We need a foreign policy like Ron Paul's, same as the Founding Fathers: trade, tourism, and friendship with all countries and entangling alliances (and piss matches) with none. To accomplish real and lasting change, we must appeal to their hearts and minds, not injure their wallets. Sanctions are no way to win friends or influence people - or countries.

Most segregation of women is a religious thing so that makes it okay

I think that the segregation of Muslim women is a religious rule and I don't think any international council or individual country could or would interfere with a religious practice.

I don't know enough about the religion vs. the state in Muslim countries or where the boundaries of authority are if there are any. They do seem to have terribly brutal punishments for things that we don't even look upon as crimes. It's a very different culture from ours.

Maybe the World community doesn't care enough about this issue.
At least girls can now attend school in Afghanistan, which under the Taliban they were excluded from. Also some women in Saudi Arabia have started defying the authorities and driving cars, which they are banned from doing. Sanctions might make a difference but I am not sure the Western powers are looking for any additional fights at the moment.

Yes but I just saw this report today:
Some 130 girls and three female teachers have fallen ill after "poisonous gas" was released in their school in northern Afghanistan, an official says.
It was the third such incident within a month.
Police confirmed the incident and blamed Taliban insurgents for the attack. "[The] Taliban intend to terrorize students mentally and prevent them from acquiring an education," police spokesman Khalilullah Asir said.

Over the weekend, the Afghan intelligence agency accused the Taliban of increasing attacks on girls' schools

I include the whole of United Nations as a worthless organization. It is not in the interest of the whole to liberate women, any more than it is in the interest to liberate Israel, Christians, Buddhist, etc, et al. It would seem that the only peoples that are liberated are men of Muslim faith, but then, that may just be my jaded outlook on the matter.

Well thx for the bias answers but no the reason why is because in south Africa it was pure racism but with the countries that segregate women it's usually tied into religion which is a touchy issue. Their best chance is to start standing up for themselves which will give outsiders a chance to step in and help.

yep, but I did add none of the above and undecided, more than what most people give as choices. I also included religion and even if that is the reason, if a religion said blacks must be segregated I don't think today's world would accept that excuse.

Many are standing up for themselves, and getting killed and tortured for it. Still everyone turns a blind eye.

Individuals yea but not that many if they formed a group then maybe help would come but face t the world sux so unless you have enough guns to kill the majority of people on the planet get used to it.
