What if some one asks you that? What would you say?
You!

I just fail to believe that a magical man created the world, and how a man called Jesus who nobody has any proof of died and came back to life.

It's very simple. I have yet to see any evidence that any god, (Christian or otherwise) actually exists. Until I do, I see no good reason to structure my entire life around the idea that one does exist.

I realized that there is no evidence that he exsist. And he "makes" people imperfect and punishes them for it. I was raised christian. I believed in god. (because my parents told me there is one). We did religous activities. (such as going to church every sunday) Then in the 3rd grade i became scared of "god". (the whole heaven and hell thing scared me.) I stopped praying (i felt no purpose in praying; they were never answered) and reading the bible.( a book of fairy tales) But i still went to church. Then, when i was 12 i quit christianity and tried other religions. But they didn't make any since. (and i wasn't mentally willing to try any like that) that was when i was agonostic. Then, at 13 I sat on my bed and thought to myself. "How come this 'god' didn't make me short (i have an insecurity about my height). If he is perfect how come i'm not happy about my height. How come not only me but my brother have problems (I was a special Ed and couldn't really talk until i was 5.) My mom and dad stressed over me. They paid ALOT of money for sugeries and therapist. If this "god" was real, I wouldn't preach. He caused not only me sadness, but my family and other people's family sadness. I wouldn't want to go to heaven with some that caused me sadness and stress and suffering. I don't care what anyone says. The are people who are suffering. (homeless people) And they steal food. And he wants to get mad at that. He is the one who put them in their shoes. That is why i am an atheist. Because of hurting of innocent people

I didn't make a conscious choice to become an atheist. I don't ever remember believing in God, or even thinking about it all that much. (Apparently church and Sunday school for 16 years was not enough for me.)
As an adult I realized this was a bunch of nonsense. Adam and Eve, Jonah and the whale, Noah and the Ark, virgins having babies, angels, devils, eat this, don't wear that, pillage, rape, war, conquer, but love your fellow man. And if you're gay you go to hell forever.

    No thanks. :-)

Someone wouldn't ask me why I'm an atheist; they would asked me (and have asked me) why I "CHOSE" to be an atheist.
First of all, I'm firmly in the camp that things like belief are not subject to free will in the simple sense that the question portrays it as being. But setting that aside, here's why I'm an atheist:

Theists have failed to meet their burden of proof. That's it...I mean, I'm an atheist for the same reasons why I don't believe that Nessie or Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy exist, which would be lack of sufficient evidence and reasons to believe that they do.

I used to believe in God when I was younger. Around age 14, my belief just decreased until I had none anymore. I think it was because there wasn't any solid proof that God exists. None of my prayers ever came true and things just didn't make sense. Also, the fact that there are many other religions who all believe they are right. What makes one more accurate over the other? I figured they were just man-made cults.

is it not sufficient - he gave you eyes to see and foot to walk
Some he made rich , some he made poor . But people stand against the ONE God -
The whole world will be finish one day & the whole Universe - is this the End of Life , the Good which People used to Do ?

People will end but there Good & Bad deeds dont . They will end the person in Heaven & Hell .

Because I am not going to just blindly believe anything without having some sort of proof that it exists or ever existed. That's just the way I am. BUT, I am an Agnostic, not Atheist. I leave the option open just in case someone finds proof. In my oh so humble opinion, both Atheists AND Theists are close minded. That, to me, is never a good thing.

I'm an atheist because no proof has been given for the existence of any deity. And because Fact>Faith. If I'm going to base my entire life on something, if I'm going to use this belief to view the world and make decisions that not only affect me but those around me I'm damn sure want to KNOW its right not THINK it is.

To people who 'think' God is a rather unbelievable concept, life kinda teaches that there is nothing watching over us.....we're on our own in this crazy world !!!!.........and thats what it appears,,,................until we look deeper........................if they were to ask why I am no longer that, I would say "u got a whole lots to learn "........

I am really an agnostic, that means I admit that I am not in a position to know positively one way or the other, as I don’t know everything, however the idea that there is a super being out there that made everything in a whim sounds totally ridiculous and there is les evidence available to support this than the existence of Santa. I mean Santa can be shown to be based on a historical character with documentation and a place on earth with a mother and father and real acts in a real world that did not involve magic. No one can come up with this about any god. My grand daughter has an imaginary friend and she has faith in it she can call it god for all I care so many do.
