Why are religious movements losing their momentum in today's society?

I recently posted a poll asking people about their opinion as to whether religion is gaining or losing influence in today's society. Every answer was that it appears to be losing its' influence. According to a recent Gallup poll, 7 out of 10 Americans felt it was losing its influence. The question of this poll is - Why?
Whether you are involved in a religion - be it Christianity, Scientology, Judaism, Muslim, etc. or if you are an Atheist or Agnostic - why do you think the tide has turned? What effect will this have on society in the future?

Humans stood around and pointed at stupid Science, laughing and giggling; but Science pimped those bitches out with antisepsis, internal combustion engines, electric lights and computers (!).
Humanity, all decked out in synthetic fabrics, jacked up on steroids, and taking vicarious trips around the galaxy via satellites and spaceships and super sized telescopes, looked back at Religion and delivered that classic Janet Jackson line "What have you done for me... late-ly???" Science wrapped his big-ole Pimp Daddy arm around humanity, squeezed its tit and jumped on his cosmic hog and drove off into the nebula...
My statement was very clear there is no god of any sort it is a man made creation of fantasy
BTW you and they get made because your superstitions and myths are challenged by truth and fact.
