Why are most people on here shallow?

Booッ 2012/06/17 11:29:31
I have noticed that whenever I ask questions that do not make a person think, I get a lot of opinions and votes; when I ask questions questioning a person's thought process and philosophical sense, I don't get many opinions. Is it me, or are people really that shallow?
You!

Internet social-networking sites are a mirror on society, whether we want to admit it or not. In today's society, people are passive-aggressive/border-line submissive. When out-spoken, strong, opinionated people make statements and give bold answers, they are rejected. The submissive way to reject is to ignore. These times are few and in-between of the philosophers and great thinkers. More reassuringly, it's the same as it has always been throughout history. Do not try to change others or be set-back by their ways, revel in the greatness that you are different, unique, and that you need more.

Because a site like this, which affords and encourages anonymity and free expression is going to have some people who will abused those privileges. Yes, I said PRIVILEGES. And to answer your main question, yes, some people really are that shallow.

I come on here so I don't have to do much deep thought. If I want philosophical arguments I tend to just find someone to talk to in person.

Chances are that individuals deal with crap either at work, home or school and come here to unwind and don't really want to think more deeply or feel philosophical. Feed them first, then ask questions later ...

Because most people don't come on here looking for any serious discussion; it's just a place to discuss mundane things or to shove their rabid political beliefs in people's faces. Getting people to think is a difficult task because a lot of people simply don't want to.

Some people post philosophical questions simply to start a fight. One becomes wary of these traps on sodahead.

Don't apologize. You are young still, and someday you will get tired of apologizing for being yourself. Yes, you set a intellectual trap, so what ? This is a good way to fish what you want out.

Maybe your questions aren't that interesting to the majority of users.

EDIT - Took a look at your last 3 questions, two I've answered before and one that no one in their right mind is going to say yes to. Theres where the problem probably is,

It's not just you.. I felt something serious or thought-provoking might be well-received, but made me feel I should not go to such trouble composing. (I questioned whether I had "shared" the right way and all, being unsure how to do that).

I don't recall seeing your topics, but looking at the ones I see now, I think many here would seemingly not be very open to answering them.

So do I. I suppose because many just don't want conflict, and others find something that is simple, is easily shared, IMHO.

Maybe they want to score. The sodahead system rewards giving as many responses as you can. Quality doesn't directly matter. So a lot of the questions and answers are almost like spam.
