Sorry for this edit to the question. I should point out where it came from. Someone had asked a question whether or not this site is suitable for kids. I suggested that we should all be careful what we say, and speak respectfully and appropriately to one another at all times, and then we wouldn't have to worry who's reading our comments and viewing the images we post.
But of course, the poster of the original question felt that it is a parents job to keep their kids off this site because it at times contains inappropriate material.
I realize this is true to a great extent, but some parents don't monitor what their kids do on the internet. Should we take this into account? Who's job is it to care for children?

Transquesta 2012/08/18 15:41:58the governments+4The government. All children are the government's property. Don't believe me? Just raise 'your' kids the way you see fit and ignore government mandates. I figure it'll take about six months, tops, for somebody from DFACS to be around to collect their property.

If anyone is disturbed by some of the materials presented here that they actually need parental supervision then they shouldn't be using this site in the first place.
Of course, you don't behave like you're in a dance club when you're at church, and you bloody as hell should know better than to curse infront of your grandmother and kids. If you're doing that then you're just a plain jackass.
With each situation you conduct yourself accordingly; that said, I think I'm wise enough to know when to bring out the horns and when to have a decent picnic. ^_^
via taxes, etc, to support those feckless, irresponsible individuals who often have large numbers of children and who 'neither work nor want' but live on welfare benefits.
Granted, by the age most sites allow for (12 or 13) a kid is USUALLY already aware of, and exposed to, foul language and some forms of sexual content. *shrug* Any younger than that? Its the parents' fault, not ours, if their 8 year old (who shouldn't be on this site) runs across foul language or rude behavior. They're not parenting then. And they shouldn't be upset with anyone on this site for what their child saw. They should blame ONLY THEMSELVES for the issue.
That said, I think we should be treating each other with more respect.
Or at least civility.
I won't hold my breath, though. This is teh internets. And teh internets are hazardous waters.
I believe that we should all be respectful. But, knowing that people will be disrespectful (and use language you find inappropriate), it then becomes your responsibility to decide how willing you are to possibly expose your children to that.
I still do not act inappropriate in front of my children, all who are adults. At the same time I do think about others. Regardless if I have the same or different views I try to keep my thoughts in check.
The same way I keep my eyes open and atch out for my friends children is how I keep my eyes open on this site. I want to set a good example for those who read my comments.
