Who's Less Moral, Men or Women?

Women are still lagging behind men in at least one area ... rule-breaking. According to recent studies, men have lower moral standards than women, especially when they have to defend their manhood, Scientific American reports.
men women moral
Studies show that men are more likely than women to minimize the consequences of moral misconduct; to adopt ethically questionable tactics in strategic endeavors; and to engage in greater deceit, Scientific American reports. In other words, whether you're engaging in a business deal or choosing a life partner, you might be better off trusting a woman.

Guys are especially likely to be "immoral" in when success means proving their masculinity -- and yes, the workplace and the playing field both come to mind. But we have to wonder: Are guys more likely to engage in this sort of behavior because they're still more likely to be competing in these arenas than women? Or are men intrinsically more immoral? What do you think?

Everyone struggles in their own areas. Women are much more gossipy than men, but I bet this "study" didn't factor in anything other than infidelity and business ethics. In both areas their is much more data about male's shortcomings because in business there is a much larger data set (more males than females), and in relationships nobody factors in that a lot of the time a relationship failing is evidence of shortcomings by BOTH partners.

Male and female gossip are two very different things. Male "gossip" is usually like what you said, who has the "best and fastest car". Female gossip is usually all about tearing other people down with information that other people don't need to know, half truths, or just flat out lies.

Lol I know men who gossip about other mens wives and know some who now hate one another its gossip believe me its just not about who's car looks or runs quicker in a quarter. Its same crap women do about each other the topic may be different but its GIOSSIP lol

Yes men gossip as well, just as women are unfaithful. I simply think that women have a greater propensity to gossip just like men have a greater propensity to cheat. There isn't a huge disparity, probably 40-60 for each.

I voted yes and I'm a man. Men get in trouble for their morals, however because they are the ones who are most boastful, and normally become leaders and therefore are in the limelight as leaders more than women, apart from the obvious exceptions such as Angela Merkel

I think that men are just more open about their shortcomings then women. For instance if you look at this question women OVERWHELMINGLY answered that men are morally inferior, whereas men were more split on the decision because we tend to just accept that we are morally inferior. However when you look at all the data I think you'll see that men and women share a lot of vices, and also have different struggles which should be factored into the argument. If the only aspect of the question is sexual, than sure men are "less moral" because we have a greater sex drive. That can't possibly be the only standard though.

Men are more open, for example I don't know where you come from in the world, but in London, England there was this double standards issue with David Cameron saying 'Calm down, dear', if not only as light humour and as a joke, to a female cabinet member. It is the reason that they are more open about their shortcomings that is so evident over women however, because they are the ones in power and, therefore they are most scrutinised

Now, men tend to be the only ones at my school beating the living hell out of other students and making their girlfriends cry on a day to day basis. Women are the only ones creating horrid lies and crushing the existing self esteem of others. Men are violent, women are viscous. Where's the BOTH choice?

There should be an option for 'Neither'. People have different morals, it doesn't mean men are more moral than women, or that women are more moral than men.

It doesn't relegate to the sex of the species, it depends on your upbringing, it depends on your environment. I've known many loosely moral-ed women and many men that have such a strong code of ethics, and don't break them. Conversely, I've known the opposite to be true. How about this...we're all morally skewed. There, I've said it!

Contrapuntal and irrelevant. Men feel women are less moral to a degree because they have been screwed over more by the "fairer" sex (although men seem to consider themselves somewhat less moral as this is what we have been programmed to think). Women choose men as the amoral louts because they have the subjective imperative from their own personal experience. Ergo the results.

I picked this just to even out the score. whats between your legs has nothing to do with your morality or judgement.... Men seem to be more aggressive with their immorality (like serial killers/ rapists), but women seem to be more likely to exact passive aggressiveness, stealing, cheating, black mail, grudge holding, poisoning, ect. Whats between your legs has nothing to do with your moral stand points!!! People are VERY stupid when it comes to these questions...

Men, naturally. Women (consciously or unconsciously) write the social moral codes in an attempt to keep us in line with their thinking. Hope I start a big debate with this observation.

You're right. And when it comes to sex, well.... John Edwards for example, out boinking his mistress while his wife was dying from cancer. Granted, he is the worst of the worst, but it doesn't speak well for men's morals.

Maybe I mispoke, Reille Hunter, John Edwards' mistress, is right down there at the bottom of the barrel. too. She knew his wife was terminally ill & chose to have sexual trysts with him, then knowingly got pregnant by him. She KNEW what effect that would have on his dying wife - and it did, right up to her dying day. Toss up! Men & Women!

You could say the same exact thing about Newt Gingrich. Only Newt was already on his 2nd wife when she got cancer and he left her for his mistress. The first thing I was going to say is what about the mistress? But you got that covered...

...Also a big difference is John Edwards was prosecuted and the DNC wants no part of him while Newt was a prime contender for president and a Republican hero. That's the difference between the 2 parties.

I don't think sex it the only issue in question here. We have only to look at our government, celebrities and professional sports figures to see a serious lack of morals in every area.

It must depend on your definition of morality. If a woman in a marriage withholds sex as "Punishment" because she doesn't get her way, I find this immoral. While it is true that men are more likely to engage in sex simply for the sake of sexual gratification, is it any LESS moral to use sex as tool to get what you want? Again, it just depends on how you define the term but I will state that the females are WAY more devious than males!

Yep. My morals only make sense to me. And I'm man who knows better but don't always follow suit. And I got a female friend who is just as bad if not worse. And its like this for her: Do as I want you to do, don't do as I do."

I was going to say it's even, but then I looked at the voting demographics for this poll:

Males: 54% voted men, 46% voted women - almost 50:50, roughly matching what I thought about it being even, an honest result.

    Female: 86% voted men!

There's obviously a lot of dishonesty and mistrust coming from women on here, which I'd say is slightly immoral, but also probably corresponds to other ambiguous morals.
It's kind of disturbing how many women evidently hate men. That's just not something you see the other way round.
