I support gay marriage because to deny any group of citizens a right that other citizens are afforded completely invalidates the very foundation of our country--that all men are created equal and should be treated as such.
I myself do not support the gay lifestyle. However, I support gay marriage as it is a Constitutional right. As long as church's aren't forced to marry them the Constitution guarantees their right under the court of law.
They want to have a little piece of paper that gives them access to heath benefits, tax breaks, next of kin rights, and the endless happiness that a proper marriage can provide. And anyone that says that it lessens the sanctity of marriage, what the hell do you think drive thru chapels and no fault divorces does? Marriages are still only 50/50. There are gay couples that have been together for decades and we are denying them the right to solidify their relationship because the religious think that the next step is taking over the churches. This is shit. They only want the government to acknowledge their love and commitment. It can be deeper than the straight folks that are allowed to marry in Vegas on a whim every day.
I do, because it's what I would consider a civil right. I don't have to be gay, or like gay people, or even like marriage, to believe homosexuals deserve their rights as much as heterosexuals.
If you don't like hot dogs, keep 'em out of your buns. You can't ban all hot dogs everywhere because you don't like them, though.
If it was on a ballot I would vote for it, but I am not thoroughly convinced that two people should have economic advantages (tax benefits to marriage) given to them by the state simply because they choose to live with someone, regardless of their sexual orientation.
Edit: Whoops, need a reason. It's only right. They are people and sexuality has no bearing on anyone except them and their partners. So why does it bother people if they want to make that commitment?
Well i just said what i thought and thats all i need ...it is my belief so why should i argue with someone who will just blast me off and tell me how wrong and closed minded i am and how i should be different... I don't support it and I think and know being gay is a sin...thats my belief...
Your point wasn't exactly valid. You cite religion, yet what if there are two homosexuals who want to get married who don't adhere to your religion? Should your rules apply to them?
but see - you have recognized that you are closed minded - at least you are the first to mention it - pedophilia is a sin but look at all the catholic priests that practice on babies - christianity in essence is sinful and that is my belief.
They should just be able to get married.

I know "they're" people. I'm one of "them"
