I think anyone can be depressed, but teens seem to be depressed the most. Depression usually shows up more seriously in people between the ages of as young as 10-17 so can many things like drug abuse or smoking, alcoholism, or any other mental disorder (any form of depression especially). I'm depressed and I'm 13, I know a couple of other people wo either know that they have it or I think or they think they might be depressed that are close to my age. I think teens are depressed the most out of the 3.
It is a shame that men in our society have caused such extra stress and thereby a means to cause an extra load and the atmosphere regards as a "depressed" state... Someone one stated that all of it lies on whomever is experiencing this states and that state or depression, however; you have to find each one that has suffered this 'feeling' that is real and most would express a leader that has caused such feeling to be experienced.. I am not giving an excuse to remain in the 'depressed' state/feeling of state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behaviour, feelings and physical well-being... Again, it is shameful to remain in this state of being... I strongly suggest asking God's help in seeking relief and the removal of that burden that originally caused theses feelings and emotional repression... Having had the years of listening and listening and sharing with all person willing and open in multicultural divisions of our society, it all comes down to the male factor... The papa and all who represents authority. But, our Heavenly Papa can and Will Help; all you have to do is ASK HIM! Truly from experience I know for a FACT He Helps all that ASK! Just sharing...
Teens grow up (much harder with depression for sure) and most are women; not to negate that yes, males are affected as well; again, we have to look to our Heavenly Father for Help!
It's biological and common, twice as many woman experience clinical depression than men.I had it for a short time untreated myself and have known and lived with woman that had it,and bipolar disorder .It occurs after puberty that woman have it 2X more, pregnancy, menopause, even giving birth or losing a child etc...It is also hereditary And on and on.There's no shame in it,the only thing to be shamed by is not seeking help but that in itself is difficult for a depressed person to get up and do,I say counseling first and drugs as a last and only resort because doctor's basically keep experimenting with different meds till one makes you feel 'normal' but some of those meds get you high and just give you an escape never solving the root cause. So imo support and guidance from loved ones I believe is needed in some cases for people to seek help.It sometimes causes suicide, alcoholism, drug abuse etc...And should be taken as serious as a life or death decision.
Probably teens because they are unfamiliar with how different the world is from what they were taught or imagined. And then there's that whole going through adolescence where the body and brain chemicals go through some radical changes. Certainly made me depressed.
