The leaves are changing colors, the weather is getting crisper and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are becoming the go-to coffee drink. This can only mean one thing: Fall is here and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. So, it's time we get in the spirit.

    Little early for this poll too, but I spend it with my immediate family now, my parents and sister. I used to spend it with my grandma and grandpa and cousins and aunt and uncle brother and sister. I miss those days.

    My parents and grandparents are all deceased. And my only sibling and myself are
    estranged, and all of my relatives live out of state, so it's with friends for me.

    I am spending Thanksgiving with my mom, brother, and cats. i wish we could go to Austin to spend time with my sister and her family, but I have to work on Black Friday and it is either spend a couple of days with them or spend a week with them during Christmas time.

    Since my sister and brother-in-law have passed, My niece now has Thanksgiving with her sister-in-law. Oh well, at least I have my cat to keep me company.

    Since my son got married, we have Thanksgiving with him, his wife and his wife's lovely family - before he got married, we'd spend that day with my sister and her husband, her 4 unruly kids, my mother - and we'd all sit around the dinner table, pretending to like each other - ugh!

We are planning to start having family dinners under less stressful conditions several times through the year instead, where we can sit and enjoy each others company in a more cozy environment.     Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, but my parents are dead, my sister goes to her in-laws, it's just another day to hubby, and my friends all have somewhere else to go. The conundrum is how a holiday can be simultaneously fabulous and sucky.

    Try serving meals to the homeless, very fullfilling and you meet very nice people that really appreciate you being there for them. I'm sorry for your loss.

    I already know most of the homeless in my area, and already collect clothing and blankets, to help them. today I gathered a big bag of warm hats scarves and shirts. I can't cook or serve food at the soup kitchen because I'm handicapped and can't stand up for much more than three or four minutes at a time without being in agony. anyway there is already a surplus of volunteers for the thanksgiving dinner there which will actually be held the day after thanksgiving.
