My husband does most of the cooking, now that he's retired. Good cook!! I did most of the cooking for years, nice to have a break and have him do it. we also like to eat out once in awhile, but with this economy not as often as we would like to. lol
I do all the cooking, and tonight I made my second batch of greens. I mixed Collard and Mustard greens together after I washed them, then fried a few pieces of bacon and put it in the pot with a little of the grease to give it flavor put salt, pepper and a cap full of vinegar with a pinch of seasoned salt, then I made steaks in the oven and covered them with foil so they would be tender, then I cooked rice and garlic bread on a huge loaf of french bread, and a huge glass of cranberry grape juice. This is my attempt to cook more healthy foods.
My mom steams them lightly stuffs each leaf cranny w/a small spoonful of seasoned hamburger mixture til the small leaves. wraps in foil and bakes350' til leaf pulls easily. When you eat it,use your teeth to scrape the fleshy leaf part w/ the burger.......delish! Then scrape the small leaves, and choke off the heart. Eat the heart with a bit of the stuffing, and juices left in foil. MMMMMMM.
Or she just steams them til leaf pulls easily...and serves with lemon butter for dipping.
I am excited that the plants I have started will prob produce buds next year...too cool.
