If you're not a kind person, no other trait will make you worthwhile.

My grandma always used to tell me you should always treat others how you would liked to be treated. Never a truer world said.

Though it doesn't hurt to have some wits about about you. And at least an average level of education is good.

Faith or Piety depends on how the person is. I'm a bit of a spiritual person myself, but I don't want someone who blindly follows their religion without question. Especially if they can't be open to other people's beliefs.

I think we always look for the good in people and want to see some form of sincerity because it makes us more drawn to the person. It makes them more approachable and open to getting to know them. Perhaps that's why Kindness, Charity or Empathy was the most chosen out of the three.

If you're not kind, why would I even have any reason to think well of you? Don't get me wrong, I would certainly try to find something redeemable about you, but kindness is certainly one of the most important traits for anyone. If you don't treat others well, how do you expect them to treat you? You get what you give.

Depends on what for man. If it's not a romanitical type deal, I say Kindness, and those.

Rationality, reason, and education. However I would also want some kindness or empathy envolved to a certain extent.

Next is rationality, reason or education. I can't fancy that I'd enjoy dating or befriending a sociopath.

I don't care if a person is kind or has empathy, Faith just gets you in trouble but rationality that can save your life

How about all the above. I'm interested in the whole package. Some are very capable of being that kind of person. Faith or Piety doesn't necessarily mean religious... I have found more Atheist to be more pious that the devout catholic or the bible thumping christian.

How would you define piety, then?
  • Eddie_s... Jacksane 2012/05/01 13:00:44
    Eddie_says_OrlyTaitez_is_nutz
Easy, there is more than one definition, I choose to ignore the religious definition

    3. dutiful respect or regard for parents, homeland, etc.: filial piety.

One does not need to be religion to be a patriot.
One does not need to be religion to be a a tax payer.
One does not need to be religion to be a good citizen.
One does not need to be religion to be a good spouse.
One does not need to be religion to be a good parent.
One does not need to be religion to be a good son or daughter.
One does not need to be religion to be a sibbling.
One does not need to be religion to be a good neighbor.

One does not need to be religion.
