Summer is here, but soon enough students will be heading back to school. Of course, it's always a good idea to get as much of that back-to-school shopping done as you can ahead of time, but that's not always how it pans out. There's so much ground to cover, and classes have a tendency to creep up on you. Before you know it, you're sitting in math class without a calculator. Not an ideal situation, but hey. Sometimes that's just how it goes.

Whether you're a current student or the parent of a student, we want to know about your back-to-school shopping habits. Do you always manage to get it out of the way before school starts? Do you have your kids buy their own supplies? Who influences the purchase decisions? Take our 10 question Quick Poll and let us know. We'd love to hear from you!

C'mon people try going in to a Calculus class without a calculator.

you don't need them, you have soap and an immune system! whereas tech gadgets are actually soooooooooo helpful when it comes to working (take it from a student!). well, maybe not iPads, but laptops definitely.

If you go this route, you are destroyin the body's immune system. That hand sanitizer is essentially a poison, and yes it does go through your skin, DO NOT USE IT! Learn to wash hands with soap and water, or better drink unpasteurized milk, and use probiotics, which can also help repair ADD, and ADHD, see "GAPS.me" web site for more on the healing this and a good diet provide, also how this diet may repair autistism and more...

you get an iPad or a Kindle. you use it for a couple years. (like 2 or 3.) if it breaks, or does something funny, get a new one. :| you don't need a new phone as soon as one comes out.

It's really a tie between this and tech gadgets. The school system should include health and wellness supplies in their operating budget. Most parents already contribute to that by payment of property taxes; however, apparently they do not budget a sufficient amount, because while my children were still in elementary school, teachers began asking parents to buy tissues, sanitizers, etc. Tech gadgets are the most expensive thing on the list and the least necessary in my opinion.

By the way, to those who listed condoms as a necessary school supply, NOTHING should be less necessary for back to school! Students are at school to learn, not to have sex.

Ya see, there's this thing called an immune system. Food drops on ground? Eat it. Your stomach has hydrochloric acid in it. Your bloodstream has things called white blood cells. They kill things called germs. When you deprive your kids this "workout" for the immune system, they get sick more. So ,yeah, sanitizer and disinfectants are the least necessary things.

Totally agree, kids are going to get sick, and a little actually helps build your immune system...and apparently it doesn't work....'cause kids are sick by October anyway it seems..

Depends on the age group. Craft supplies, unless you're in early grade school, isn't necessary. But in general, tech gadgets aren't needed. You should be able to write down whatever notes and such you need on paper and notebooks. That's what they're for.

NEW clothes are not essential unless you've grown out of yours. A few items are fine, but not an entire new wardrobe.

Agreed! It's especially frustrating to feel pressured to buy a new wardrobe fr back to school when it's still100 outside when school starts, and stores only stock long sleeve shirts and sweaters.
