Summer is here, but soon enough students will be heading back to school. Of course, it's always a good idea to get as much of that back-to-school shopping done as you can ahead of time, but that's not always how it pans out. There's so much ground to cover, and classes have a tendency to creep up on you. Before you know it, you're sitting in math class without a calculator. Not an ideal situation, but hey. Sometimes that's just how it goes.

C'mon people try going in to a Calculus class without a calculator.

Tech Gadgets are completely needed.

Unless you're a college student and you need a laptop. But an IPad? Not really. Of course, you need the calculators and stuff like that. But I don't think you need an IPod or IPad to do well in school.

0_o mean.. i have had teachers who say its good to have a computer but never had we needed to actaully go get our own laptop. thats crazy.

After elementary school, heck, even in elementary school, no one needs glue bottles and manila paper.
Why did you people ever answer tech gadgets? Entering college, a laptop is increasingly necessary. Were we forgetting college? Even now, teachers have us turn things in online, so not only does one need a computer, but a way to connect to the internet as well.
Technological devices may not have been important when you were in school, but times are changing.

It's middle/high school. The only art supplies you'll use are whiteout, duct tape and a rusty exacto knife the teacher lent you.

Lot of hands on art/crafts in upper grades are being cut out and replaced by computers etc. YOU need all the others stuff. At least that's what it's like in CA.

Tech gadgets are not essential at school?

Can convert you notes into digital files for conveniences and easy recognizable categories for study/cramping for or durning exams times later. Do this at home, in a better relaxed atmosphere.

I felt like all of the choices are needed. I choose tech gadgets because I did not have them growing up. Sad fact is, the kids who do have the tech gadgets have an edge over those without.

Then health and wellness supplies and clothing and accessories. We don't have a uniform, and I don't need to buy new clothes every autumn.

My bag was expensive but it's lasted me for several years so I don't find it necessary to buy a new one.

The disinfectant that I buy is €5 and I only use it when I cut myself, I don't bring it to school.

I don't see why craft supplies are so high up there, I use glue to stick worksheets into my books and scissors to fit them. You always need glue!

Depends on what kind of school you go to. I for one don't need craft supplies, but when I went to primary and secondary school, I didn't need tech gadgets.

you never use these in middle school or highschool...if you do, then borrow a friend's lol that's what i do...i would say tech gadgets, but i use those a lot for my projects.

Starting last year, our school district began putting the bite on parents for flash drives, ear buds and other non essentials. Let our taxes pay for that stuff; essentials already run close to $100.00 a year.

Since when do children NEED gadgets in order to attend class?

Laptops are essential for college students, but children? No. At least they should not be. Many parents can not afford to buy each kid a laptop or an ipad.

This is the only thing on the list that I don't need for school. If I need the Internet for research or need to type a report, I go on my computer that I've had forever. My school has good computer labs we can use, also.

These items are usually available in all schools, through dispensers, anyway.
Any student who has been to university will find it awful hard to function without a computer.

The ones the Teacher has were purchased by themselves. Why should they fund your supplies when you don't even think they are worth what they should get paid?

Pull the stick out please. This is just how things work. Glue and colored pencils are always on the schools list but you either never use them or the teachers offer them. Calm down. Jeez. They DID purchase them for a reason you know. You also clearly have no idea what I think so how about you not make yourself look like an idiot with your crazy ASSumptions.

A lot of teachers are NOT worth what they get paid. Yes there are some good ones, and there are some good cops, but there are a whole hell of a lot who are corrupt! I have several family members who are teachers and trust and believe they have the kids buy so much stuff so they can keep a supply at hand, they themselves are NOT buying the stuff.

But don't tell the school boards that. They're too happy signing contracts for devices at prices higher than in stores. These same devices have 5 year warranties yet will need replacing in at most 2 years.

Not to mention the happiest reviews are from the teachers that no longer teach - rather they walk up and down an aisle while the kids determine what the best use of their time is, and this includes headphones and synching cell phones to the teacher,

School mainly is writing and bringing technology into it has never been a favorite of mine. Don't let me get started with this! Some schools are just so stupid, they're such cheap people, but then spend thousands on tablets. My old elementary school was saving up for laptops and tablets, instead of building an extension to separate our cafeteria and gymnasium.
