Mother's Day is almost here, and to celebrate we wanted to give mothers a chance to discuss familial Facebooking, and how social media plays into parenting. Should moms "friend" their kids on Facebook? Do their kids even want to be friended? What do people really think about parents who make Facebook pages for their babies? Do families hide things from each other online? And don't forget, we have demographic breakdowns to shed more light on the answers to those questions.

So whether you're a mom yourself, or simply have a mom, we want to know your thoughts on how social media relates to parenting. When you have a chance, be sure to take our 10-question Mothers and Social Media Quick Poll. And don't forget to send your mom a Mother's Day poke!

Forced to pick among the answers. My Mom passed away in 03', should be an option for talking to her in other ways :)

It's so sad how many post that their mothers have passed on. Mine is 82, though. We communicate mostly by e-mail, or they call us using Skype, because it is an international call.

My dad is 84 but highly computer literate, and my mum is fairly good with computers. My dad used to run his business using a Vic 20, for those of you old enough to remember older home computers before there were PCs.

Texting would never work, because my parents leave their mobiles turned off! I don't think they can type on a regular phone keyboard anyway. I find that hard enough myself. They are on Facebook, but prefer to use e-mail. Nobody in our extended family uses Twitter, and does anyone atall use snail mail anymore? No-one I know does. All I get by snail mail are bills and junk.

BTW, it used to crack us all up that my dad's clients were so impressed when they got their bills on green and white stripy computer paper with holes up the sides for the tractor drive! Colour laser jet printers, or even anything that could print on ordinary paper, were just a twinkling in someone's eye back then. I think there really weren't any other small businesses using computers, so he was on the 'bleeding edge' of technology. Don't assume that older people know nothing about computers. Some of them could tell you a thing or two.

my dad(RIP ) had a sinclairZX back in the day, and a dot matrix. We started with a commodore 16 back in 85!!!! I use skype with my mum (international call too) and its almost as good as being with her. Her fingers seize up using a keyboard(she is 80)
My own kids email, text, facebook and skype regularly, depends where they are and what they do, Im more "computer literate" than they are with regards to programming and anything outside of movies, music and iphones

She doesn't know how to text message or email so unless I'm going over to see her, which I do frequently, I call.

I've tried! I explain it as simply as possible and I SHOW her. She just gets pissy, throws her glasses at me and says, "Set me up a game of dream pet!" She's still getting used to texting on cellphones so . . . but whenever she's in the mood to try, I show her something but it never seems to stick.

I have started texting my mom. Every time I call she has me on the phone for an hour +. It got so bad that I would put the phone down and walk away. I would come back 15 minutes later pick up the phone and say mhmmm. I love my mom but dang I hate talking on the stupid phone.

My mom just joined yours. Funeral was Monday. Up till last Sunday, it was always face to face. At 99.75 years, her hearing was not good enough for the phone.
