If you're anything like us, one of the most vivid memories you have of playing Monopoly as a kid involved picking out your favorite game piece that was inevitably going to bring you good luck throughout the game and make you the ultimate reigning champion. Well things are changing, folks.

The classic board game is being updated and the company has announced plans to replace one of the game's iconic pieces with a newer, more modern figurine. And to add fuel to the board game fire, Hasbro is making you decide which piece will get the boot.

Now until February 5, fans of the game can vote to save their favorite figurine on the Monopoly Facebook page. Plus, people can also vote on which new game piece will take the place of the least-popular, older piece. So let's have a little vote of our own, shall we, SodaHeads? Which classic Monopoly piece do you think should go?

This one always gave me bad luck, this one and the wheelbarrow. I love all of them but I guess those two are my least favorite.

I chose the iron too when I first answered this. I just found out today that they got rid of the iron and are replacing it with a domestic cat. YAY! I'll have to go out and buy a new Monopoly game, lol!

I love them all, I don't want any to go. But I guess if I had to choose one it would be the shoe. Why can't they just add on the new one?

Shoe, definitely shoe. What the heck? It looks like a worn out hobo shoe, and what does it mean? My next would be the thimble, at least a shoe represents walking, but a thimble? It doesn't even roll right (well it can roll right or left, but you know what I mean... correctly).

gee there too cheap to add a few new pieces add a cannon , rifle , gun , or a whole set of special piece sets that can be added seperate .. we allways used any thing we wanted to to use as a playing piece. long as it did not roll off the board.

I like the thimble!! I always am that piece when I play

Hey I actually like the thimble!
  • polock 2013/01/17 16:44:38
do people still use these? today's look is so rumpled that I wonder if anyone uses one.
  • gaylehelen 2013/01/17 11:36:24
Oh, I'm disappointed to see the Thimble leading so far. Easy to grab.
I chose the iron because it's not as easy to grab and I hate to iron especially with that type of iron, it would take me even longer. It doesn't have a steam button. lol

They expect this to create some controversy and thus free advertising and boosting sales. That's the only reason they are considering any sort of change to the best board game ever invented. Leave it alone would be my vote.

  • Raymond 2013/01/17 02:48:36 (edited)
Actually, The shouldn't get rid of any of those game pieces & just go ahead and add the new one.
  • Kyrin 2013/01/16 21:50:38
Nobody in my family uses the thimble, and also is probably the least exciting.

Every time I have played Monopoly i always think "WTF is the Battleship doing here?"...
I spent years thinking it was from a Battleship game. it's pretty outdated anyway.
  • cranejumper 2013/01/16 09:52:12
I think the wheelbarrow should go because it represents the discriminatory views towards mexicans and other latinos

You are entitled to express your opinion, just as i am entitled to have the opinion that this is the most ridiculous answer i have seen all week.
Maybe Hasbro should remove the iron so they don't discriminate against women or the dog so CATS don't feel discriminated against....
  • craneju... Matthew... 2013/01/17 00:26:26
Thank you Matthew, I am sorry you didn't catch the sarcastic remark as far as I am concerned none of the pieces should be replaced.
  • nanmx 2013/01/16 07:30:55
I was going to say the thimble but then thought there were a lot of older ladies and crafty type people that would want that one... So I'm going to say the shoe..proably the least exciting piece.

All of these are iconic symbols of the times in which the game was first invented (1934), but the wheelbarrow is prolly the most abstract of all the pieces.

It always sucked when you got the thimble when you played. At least the kid with the iron could be like, "Mine gets super freaking hot!" When you got stuck with the thimble, you were just like, dammit... No, but the scottie dog and hat better stay because those are two classy mother f-ckers. I always imagined the hat being atop the dog's head as he smoked a pipe and totally dominated everybody. I think they should replace the thimble with a shetland pony because then the hat, dog, and pony could all team up as a secret hat-dog-pony society and run the city with their little iron hooves/paws/brims. Would totally be awesome. Yyyeeeaaaaahhhh!
  • TwistedArtisan 2013/01/16 00:09:54
    It's so uninteresting.
