A DEBIT CARD AND A CHECK BOOK ARE THE BEST WAY TO GO. PAY CASH FOR EVERYTHING.

This is akin to asking which is the best hemorrhoid. I paid all mine off years ago and vowed to never have another; but i used the Discover card most.

Be very very careful with credit cards and avoid them if you can. Paying loan shark interest rates can get you into trouble. Don't spend money you don't have.

The credit cards with zero interest are the best. There are a fair amount of them on the net that have no interest on an outstanding balance.

As credit cards go there are many that work well but the best one is the one you don't have.

I want to see this cancerous economic system abolished! Having said that. Any kind of REWARDS account where you get some benefit besides just what you've purchased, as long as you DON'T run a balance on the account, you get garner some benefit from a rewards account. Any way one can garner some benefit from this cancerous economic system, DO IT!

Here are a few examples of rewards accounts:
    Chase Amtrak Card
US bank travel rewards credit card
    Sears Rewards Credit Card
    Delta Airlines Credit Card
    Finnair Credit Card

I prefer using the VISA card issued via my Credit Union. Cash rewards or points toward online shopping and no interest if PIF monthly.
