Which Do You Buy More Often While at the Store?

Generic brands are much cheaper than the name brands.

And Aldi's brands.

I scanned Stop & Shop brand pop corn on my phone and the result came up as "Orville Redenbacher's" so they really are... the same thing :p

Lots of them are actually made by one of the brand names. Most of them I get are pretty good and every so often one generic isn't. If its that bad then return it. I started doing that since the prices are so high.

They all have a brand! Some are just better known than others.

I am still waiting for my advertising check from many name brands. Until that happens I am not paying extra to advertise for them,

Not really. i picked generic because there was no Private label choice. I buy most of my food at Aldi and they have a private label which is as good or better than major brands.

I love Aldi.

Their logo is different now. The slant of the A isn't so extreme and doesn't touch the right corner anymore.

but i do buy certin types of things by brand name because they are better than the generic.
example: mayonaise

I say it's about equal but I tend to favor the name brands with food products.

I buy both, and I'm very picky about it.

The cereal I eat, for example. I tried the brand name and the generic, and the generic was awful despite supposedly being the same.
Likewise, some things I found no difference and so go for generic instead.

Especially with cereal. There are some of the fruit flavored ones (like Fruit Loops) that are so nasty and taste nothing like their brand name counterpart, that I've been scared off of them.

Generic brands are made by the SAME companies that are the premium brands. They just put the store name or generic name on the packaging. Really now, how many companies are making ketsup or peas or tomato sauce???

actualy thats a myth, it is true for some but not others. and plenty of factories are engineered 2 make more than 1 thing as needed.

Yes,many years ago, i worked at a large grocery store. When you entered the door, you passed a long row of large wire baskets filled with sales items. We got in 200 cases of Red Dart lima beans to sell in the baskets at 10 cents a can. They didn't sell very good. One day, I noticed there was a nother label under the Red Dart label. i peeled off the Red Dart label and underneath was a Del Monte label. del monte lima beans were selling at 27 cents a can in those days. I got rid of all the Red Dart limea beans that woldn't sell for 10 cents a can in the wire baskets by peeling off the red dart labels and marking them 27 cents and selling them on the regular Del Monte shelf.

It depends. We buy a lot of paper towels, etc. in bulk and those are mostly brand names b/c there aren't many brands. On other foods, it completely depends on taste/what we like better. I get a lot of Kashi cereal and off brand granola....so a healthy mix I'd say.

Whatever has the best quality for the price paid ..
(doesn't matter the brand name (or not). If the quality is not there .. if there is no need .. then it will NOT be purchased at all)
