It was at 11490 San Pablo Avenue in El Cerrito, a few miles past Berkeley and Albany. It was inside Golen Gate Lanes bowling, which closed. Albany Bowl was closer to Berkeley and the students and stayed open; GG Bowl went belly up.

924 Gilman. or the Gilman Street Project, where Green Day really started rolling, is just below San Pablo on Gilman street, about 2 miles north.

The Rod's location was a Target, which moved recently further into Richmond. The building is currently abandoned.

924 Gilman was partially funded by the Cheesboard Collective in Berkeley which also started the Arizmendi Collectives.

When me and Billy Joe's generation were kids in Berkeley, the places to see shows were definately Ruthies Inn at 2618 San Pablo (formely Roundtree after Ruthie's closed, now Black Oak books) and Barrington Hall off UC Berkeley Campus. Great times, great shows: Flipper, Code of Honor, Fang, Boneless Ones, Fright Wig, Steel Pole Bathtub, Special Forces, MDC......
