Actually I combine Yogurt, milk, vegetables and supplements! So, in your survey it would have been good to have had more than one answer.

...and yogurt, plus milk. But all of this has to be aided by adequate amounts of vitamin D if the calcium is to be absorbed by the body and used to strengthen bones. The best way of getting sufficient vitamin D is by exposure of the skin to the sun. Dietary vitamin D, particularly from supplements carries risks of toxicity, where sunlight doesn't due to mechanisms that regulate the vitamin D production. See:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

It is perfectly possible to gain the amounts of vitamin D required from levels of exposure to the sun that fall below that likely to cause sunburn. Naturists tend to take every opportunity they can to get out in the sun and, thanks to the way the seasons vary will have built up their skin's resistance to burning long before the really long hot days of summer (should we actually get any!). It is reckoned that most non-naturists in the western world do not have sufficient levels of vitamin D as clothes have deprived our skin of the levels of sunlight that we had evolved to expect.
