I get my calcium mostly from green vegetables and a variety of nuts (most nuts only contain about 20mg or so), as well as cheese, and orange juice. Anytime you make a stew or a soup, Kale is awesome in it, unless it's potato soup, but you can put steamed broccoli in before serving if desired. Calcium supplements are a smart idea and you need vitamin D and some even say magnesium in order for your body to adequately absorb enough calcium. (I hope I'm getting enough calcium?)

Why raw? I grew up on a farm.. there is no way I would drink raw milk!

well I didn't grow up on a farm but everything I have read indicates to me that pasteurised homogenized milk actually can leach calcium from your bones since the molecular structure has been altered...

Supplements with vitimin D, and milk. Keep it simple! If you are instructed by other posters here to get all involved in some elaborate method for getting this element, forget it! You will get what you need if you keep it simple.........

I do get them for all three answers. Having back problems and avascular necrosis. Calcium, vitamin D, C, and potassium are a daily regement for me. I have been hearing a great deal of horror stories from people in my age group. I know we were given many drugs that were never questioned by our parents or us because we trusted doctors to make the right medical decisions for us. The absolute worst thing I was given was steroids. I was on them for over two years and didn't even realize what they were. This is what caused my avascular necrosis. The blood supply is cut off to the joints and they die. This can go from your ankle to your jaw. I have had both hips replaced and will have my knees done soon. All of the young people that are taking steroids, PLEASE STOP!!!

According to the nutrition experts, supplements do little to no good! Just a BIG waste of money!!!!

I chose this amswer because it was the closest to the actual answer I would give. I drink full-blooded, whole-grain, homo-genicized, pure whole milk, including all the fat that comes with it. I have done this since I was a kid. I have broken two ribs (I was 7 years old), otherwise, no broken bones and only four cavaties in my life (and those were when I was in high school - eating pizza and hamburgers and Candy) I do eat yogut from time to time and lots of vegetables. So, why am I answering this question?? Must be bored.

Forgot to mention: Take pan off burner and stir in a thumbnail or teaspoon (amount doesn't really matter) of plain greek yogurt (best from Trader Joe's 4sure). Don't want to boil at all - be sure to remove from burner (don't just turn off burner).

    Good times.

The only creatures that should be drinking cow's milk are baby cows. Think about it.
