When store clerks ask if you want to donate to this or that charity, do you usually say yes and if you say no does it make you feel little guilty?

I go to the same store a lot, sometimes 2 or 3 trips a day, I can't afford to give each time, but I also feel a little guilty when I say no.
What about you?
What about you?

Depends on the charity. Those I support, I donate to quite readily. Those I don't support, I don't donate to and I don't feel any sense of 'guilt' whatsoever.
You could always use this option:
Many times I've assumed it was just a stupid American thing, not a stupid global thing.
If you hadn't guessed, it greatly annoys me that stores do that.
Don
I DO prefer to donate on my own (not at a store)
but there are some truly deserving charities that have partnered up with stores
that I'll donate to while I am there ..
Going to a store where they ask you to buy something and stick it in a box, doesn't quite cut it. They could take it back out when you leave and resell it.
Not my idea of responsibly giving. I know my charities and where the money goes.
Charity should be 100% optional.
When i worked for United Artists, each summer we had to go into the theaters. before the film rolled, to ask for donations and I hated it. It just felt wrong, after charging them an arm and a leg for popcorn and coke. The company didn't donate a dime of their profits from those sales to the charity. Also, the company got all the accolades for being charitable when it was their employees doing the begging and their patrons giving up the funds.
