When people post Relationship Status as "It's Complicated" what does it really mean?....

I'm just wondering. I see this every now and then and it seems like a glowing advertisment for rescue from a bad relationship. But then again I don't wan't to assume too much or judge. However it does seem like a desperate statement or a plea for help. What do you think?

this can have different meanings, this can be used for peaple who are in love but over distance can rarely see each other so dont know what should this relationship label

they could have a rocky relationship but they are trying to work it out so whoever has that on their profile then ask them what it means for them cuz it could have several different meaning and that way you wont be going after someone who still loves whoever theyre with ^_^

In my case it meant ,I was stuck with a junkie piece of garbage who kept stealing my money and my cars and the worthless law enforcement in Topeka would do nothing about it. I finally found one officer who did arrest him and the judge threw it out of court. I had to move to get away from him.

It's means they are a whore, are afraid of telling the truth because they fear what people will think, or they just don't feel like sharing because they might say something that they were not suppose to. Well that is what I get or think when people tell me it's complicated. For me it has to be one of the above reasons. Don't want me to think that then share.

While I am married our relationship is mostly open, or sometimes not as the mood changes. We are quite happy together but we like our friends, although not always all of each others friends.

We spend a lot of our time together, but each still has their own time. Which means describing our relations can sometimes be complicated, other times not. So basically, "Complicated" seemed to be the best fit since none of the others are completely accurate.

Something transitional -- when I've started seeing someone new, but it's only been a few dates and I'm still not sure I want to call it a relationship, or after a recent fight when I'm still technically in a relationship, but I don't know how long that will last.

It's complicated, to me, represents a relationship either beginning to bud or hitting a rough patch.

I don't understand why anyone would admit to a complicated relationship in the first place, unless they are looking to complicate it even more-it is not what I would call an attractive asset if they are looking for something better.

I think it means that the couple are having some problems and misunderstandings difficult to sort out. Not necessary means they're both are soon going to end it. :)

Could be the former, could be the latter, could be that they simply have no real way of describing it appropriately: such as...polygamous situations, they're not over an ex and unprepared for anything new, who knows, they could be bestials.

If a person relationship is complicated and there is too much drama in it, then get out of the relationship! A person have the ability to change their lifestyle if they choose to or not. If there is lack of love, trust and respect for each other, then you have nothing to begin with!

Well, it could mean either of the above choices but, from personal experience, I can tell you that it means a CRAP load of things.

1. I like this guy, he likes me but we're not dating.
2. Your in love with a guy and he knows it. Again, you're not dating.
3. (My teacher put this on her facebook, not my experience) You're pregnant w/ a dude's baby and the dude doesn't like you but wants to take care of the baby.

....And then it just depends on your relationship.

Depending on who's asking. If someone in whom the "complicated" person is interested, then it means "available but I'm not a virgin and there may be some messiness with the [soon-to-be] X."

Perhaps a less than typical situation that doesn't need to be explained to others...not just private, but actually complicated to the person involved. Probably lots of details and maybe some confusion...this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just is what it is.

or it could mean "Its not really complicated, it just makes my life more intresting to put it as that"

Or..their relationship could actually be complicated, so it would bore us to hear it.

It can either mean, " I don't feel like explaining the details " , or " I'm on the verge of getting out of a relationship " , or " I'm trying to see where this relationship is going, before i make a move ". Whatever it is, the status is basically saying the relationship isn't "stable" ....

in some whys some ppl just need to ask for help or ask how to deal with some thing and there is nothing wrong with helping someone with there problems there was a time when i needed help and there were some of my friends online that helped me and i am very grateful for them :)
