Some people believe he was in Hell, others believe he was in a purgatory like place, freeing the people there and leading them into the afterlife proper.
I don't know. Mostly people believe based on their own interpretation of the scriptures. I suppose they use that as evidence to support the idea, but not really as proof
Whatever, I didn't say I believe this is what happened. This is just one of the more popular theories. And I don't necessarily see where the scriptures supposedly contradict each other
Here is something that might clear it up for you. As far as I'm concerned, though, I believe there may have been a translation disparity with the word "Hades". He may never have gone to Hell
Like I said, it's just one of the more prominent beliefs
Some say he descended into hell but I can only take from the Word that He clearly stated as He hung from the cross to one of the men hanging next to Him,"And He answered him, Truly I tell you, TODAY you shall be with Me in PARADISE."(Luke 23:43-Amplified Bible)
Many organized churches are the ones who give the "He descended into hell" spiel. I can only go with what is documented in the Gospels as stated by Christ Himself and that is CLEARLY that He went to Paradise on that same day.
I believe there are so many things that stump us now but will someday be clarified. We will all say, "Duh! Why did we make that so hard?"
I agree. I just was curious what others thought. Honestly, I'm not religious but was raised Pentecostal, so it's interesting to me what other people's views r on things.

I have to say Paradise.
