Just because some people like the sound of 2 old men playing electric guitars doesnt mean others do, if it was a drum and bass rave im sure lots of those people saying the plug shouldnt have been pulled would be complaining.

You wanted socialism with less freedom.
    rspell
England is a good lesson for the US. Choose liberty or go their way.

It was a local council decision to limit the gig to a certain time. The organisers agreed to the terms and then over ran by more than 30 minutes. Nothing to do with police states, socialism etc, just a local ordinance matter.

England is not a state, the UK is.

Let them have their rock and roll it too.

i think they should have been allowed to continue the show. usually residents are told when there is going to be something like this so it shouldn't have been a problem. my country is way to strict sometimes.

But they over ran the agreed time. A bit harsh maybe, but they agreed the terms before the gig.

England became a police state when the people decided their addiction to nanny teat was better than freedom. WHEN that was I can't say for sure. Sometime after Thatcher I s'pect.

Hardly socialism at work. It was the stuck up hoity toities in the English elite who ruined the party. On the other hand......what if you were the guy wanting to sleep?

You are correct. The show did violate local ordinances and the officials did their duty.

Yep, to be fair, they had over ran the agreed time by half an hour, hardly signs of a police state.

No it was some little jobsworth council official who pulled the plug after the gig over ran more than 30 minutes.
You know "more than my jobs' worth if I don't".
Hardly the hoity toity elites, they were probably partying it up with the coke and champers, darling :-)

well that's encouraging at least, so it was a case of the "hobgoblins" which haunt people with small minds in positions of power, huh? yeah that is an old story. thanks for setting me right on that BritPunk!

Oh don't worry, we have plenty of jobsworths, always have. The big threat to personal liberty is the number of CCTV cameras cropping up everywhere. In the big cities you can expect to filmed hundreds of times a day.
That and the ambulance chaser lawyers that have sprung up have made people paranoid of being sued, so prohibit innocent fun for "health and safety".

gosh, guilty of being a lawyer here. but most of my career has been in the area of criminal law.
Yeah, the cameras......sounds quite ominous doesn't it? Orwell was the prophet. I don't like the idea either.

Nothing wrong with being a lawyer, old bean. It's the aggressive ones who have people in the street approaching you and asking if you have had an accident at work etc.

Never understood that kind of boldness, never been capable of it either.
