I am a Scientific Pantheist or a Naturalistic Pantheist. God is the Universe or Nature. God is the totality of existence, everything and everyone is part of God. God is not humanoid, It does not have personality or persona, it does not have gender, It is not jealous, it does not crave our worship or prayer. God does not have desires or concerns, It does not speak to people, It does not hear prayers. Pantheists venerate the Universe for its totality and its order. They are (at least mostly) environmentalists out of respect for Nature. They are (mostly) Humanists, concerned with the welfare of others and of humankind. See "Religion Without Revelation" by Julian Huxley to understand how to be religious without prayer, worship or a personal god.
See the World Pantheist Movement for more information.
    http://www.pantheism.net/
Look at the religion/philosophy of famous Naturalistic Pantheists like David Hume, Julian Huxley and Albert Einstein.

Please be aware there are also Spiritual Pantheists, who believe there is a spiritual dimension, that souls or spirits exist. Ralph Waldo Emerson and his "Oversoul" is perhaps the best know example of this school of thought. The Oversoul is the sum of all spirit. http://www.hi-des-website.com...

There are many religions with Pantheistic thought. John Shelby Spong espouses a Christianity which is essentially Pantheistic. http://johnshelbyspong.com/

Most Native Ameican religions are (or were) Pantheistic. See God is Red by Vine Deloria for an excellent introduction to Native American religious thought.

Seeing as there are major problems in all religions I just choose to live my life this way...

To be the best that I can and treat others as I would like to be treated...

That is unquestionably the best "religion" of all, and is actually at the heart of many of the world's religions, once you strip away all the mythology and mumbo jumbo.

I'm technically a Roman Catholic, but I've wondered about how unrealistic some Christian beliefs are. Some of it just doesn't seem right to me.

Keep your mind open. Regardless of what you finally end up embracing as your personal belief, chose it yourself. Don't let anyone or anything cram it down your gullet.

...You believe that Jesus Christ is your savior, so do the others. You all believe in the Bible. You all believe in the same God.

Why do all the 'branches' claim that there's a 'big difference'?
  • Bloodle... AngryGabby 2012/06/13 21:36:41

Doesn't the Bible claim that there's only one God? You don't have to call yourself a Christian if you have different ideas. Different ideas are what bring the future.

Technically, "Evolutionism" and "Atheism" is the same thing. Although I am aware that some people do believe that the Universe has always been there and always will, and that that may be deemed as "Atheism." You really should have put more options though, and "All of the above?" Seriously?
  • Vennie Scravity 2012/06/12 21:20:44

I'm not agreeing with your initial statement. I think there are Christians who believe in evolution and still are practicing believers of Christianity. As long as Christians do not interpret every word in the bible literally, it is certainly possible for them to accept evolutionary evidence provided by science.

Yeah, I guess on second thought, atheism isn't usually considered a religion. However, it's interesting that when religion is discussed, atheism often comes up, so it is certainly related.

Atheism fits the definition of life philosophy better rather then religion so it is related but still different.

was raised a strict catholic, but it wore off @16 and now i tend to believe we manage ourselves, quite without divine supervision or scorn.
what god would create beings and demand that they constantly adore him yet he remains silent and invisible?
