I am a Scientific Pantheist or a Naturalistic Pantheist. God is the Universe or Nature. God is the totality of existence, everything and everyone is part of God. God is not humanoid, It does not have personality or persona, it does not have gender, It is not jealous, it does not crave our worship or prayer. God does not have desires or concerns, It does not speak to people, It does not hear prayers. Pantheists venerate the Universe for its totality and its order. They are (at least mostly) environmentalists out of respect for Nature. They are (mostly) Humanists, concerned with the welfare of others and of humankind. See "Religion Without Revelation" by Julian Huxley to understand how to be religious without prayer, worship or a personal god.

Look at the religion/philosophy of famous Naturalistic Pantheists like David Hume, Julian Huxley and Albert Einstein.

There are many religions with Pantheistic thought. John Shelby Spong espouses a Christianity which is essentially Pantheistic. http://johnshelbyspong.com/

Most Native Ameican religions are (or were) Pantheistic. See God is Red by Vine Deloria for an excellent introduction to Native American religious thought.

The men who authored the scriptures didn't understand many things and came up with reasons to explain away what they saw and also devices to sway minds and consolidate power. If 6 days is 4.5 billion years to god, then one could apply that same rationale to virtually any statement in the bible--"Well it may say this, but what god might have meant is this."

A day is a period of time and can vary from culture to culture. When creation was suppose to have happened did they have the 24 hour day ?

I agree. How do we know that God didn't create the world and the Universe by what we now call evolution? Time is nothing to God. Our scientists are discovering the way God created the universe. God was the first physicist, chemist, astronomer, artist...etc.

I support the right to engage in whatever religion floats your boat. I also think with religion comes responsiblity. Organized religion reminds me of a episode of "Happy tree friends". All is going smooth until you get your head chopped off.

I was baptized as a Catholic as a baby. However I've always thought there was more. I boarder on Henotheism at times but I'm not sure. Technically I'm not Christian because of my fuzziness on the topic of Jesus and the Exodus. But I've never been near atheism. All I really know is there's someone over me.

I'm an orthodox philosophy range, Catholic Christian of the Latin Rite. I don't find science to be an adversary or incompatible with my religion. There are some evolutionary aspects which are accepted by the Church, so I'm partially evolution, (but, this is a theory, not a religion).

These "Christian Scientists" you speak of, they wouldn't be Dr Behe and his cohorts at the ID website would they? You know, the guys who have consistently lost the so-called "war on evolution" in every arena they've tried to take on actual biologists and astrophysicists on? Including the legal arena? The same guys who have gone on record as stating that truth doesn't matter at all and ANYTHING (including murder, lying and cheating) is okay as long as it's for God?
