What's your password?

Fef 2012/03/14 19:50:25
You!
Add Photos & Videos
Do you share your password with people? Do you have any passwords that only you know? Do you write your passwords down? How often do you change your password? How difficult do you make your passwords?

Check out this funny video from the RSA Conference on security. The reporter asked a bunch of security experts, "Hey...What's your password?"

Google has some good security tips on selecting a password
Use a unique password
For every unique account, use a unique password.
Using the same password on different websites allows hijackers to access your important accounts if they manage to steal your password from a less secure website. At a minimum, choose unique passwords for important accounts like your email and online banking

I forget them all the time and have to answer special questions so they will email me my passwords. I use to write them down but I got confused or could not read my own writing so I gave that up. The only person who has my passwords is my hubby and I am not really sure why, his memory is worst than mine.

I don't care that much about people knowing my passwords. I gave this guy on the internet the password to my youtube account and he ended up reading all of my messages to this girl and the messages were ABOUT HIM. so that prob wasn't the best idea...lol

I change my passwords frequently (every four to six weeks) and they are things only I would know and make sure they are unique. It's a good habit to have. My office "forces" us to change our passwords frequently as well. It's just a habit now.

When they ask you to pick a question to answer if you forget your password to validate your identity I choose answers that don't make sense either. Can't really guess it even if you knew me going by my interests. Trying to crack that is like also like trying to crack my password.

I never share passwords. I use a password manager, and never use the same password twice with different merchants, vendors, sites, etc. And my passwords are at least 13 characters long (each of which is an UPPERCASE, lowercase, numeral, or punctuation mark) or 15 characters (if the site doesn't allow punctuation in passwords). And my passwords are totally random strings. I defy even the J-6 section of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to crack it.

I change important ones at least once a month, use an online password generator, I use as many characters and symbols as possible, don't share them with anyone but my hubby, and I keep an updated list in a secret folder.

My passwords are random, using all allowed character type, from 80% up to maximum allowed length. No site gets the same one.
My computer is encrypted with 90% to 100% of 512 randomly selected unicode characters.

It actually gives you 30 extra lives. Originally, Contra only allowed 3 lives and the game contained no save points.

Hah! good luck with that! I got 25 different passwords, each site I visit gets a different one.I read a very large book on internet security and apparently there's no such thing.
